You'll get as many answers as there are people on here for that one.

I run a tekin rs pro, but its overkill, the rs is fine. I've heard really good stuff about the reventon with wifi programmability & that will probably be the next one I buy. Vipers are good, Orion's are good, lrp's are good (but personally I can't stand counting blinky lights to program it & there aren't any other options), lots good stuff being said about the brushless hobbies ESC's & their cheap. For a budget buy, probably the brushless hobbies. Mmp is bullet proof, but bulky & inefficient (before anybody blasts me for this one, I have personally tested with the same buggy, motor, receiver, servo & batteries against my rs pro & a viper, the mmp had less power, less top end, & less run time than the rs pro or the viper & I tested 2 different mmp's with the same result). Hobbywing seems decent, as long as you get a v2 & up. Novaks seem to have to many failures for my taste. I would also steer clear of anything from hobbyking.com or Hobbypartz.com as well.

I have a half dozen brands, from Cirtix cheapo, T, V, N, M, etc to Orion top of the line, they all work fine for the given car. For some reason I prefer Orion for my off road "race" cars. : ) Support, compatibility, price,... make a priority list and add it all up.

Kyosho white front gold rear was very good. Not any faster than my ae black front white rear combo, but it definitely has a better feel and was more consistent in medium as well as low traction. I don't know why I try other springs when I always come back to Kyosho springs. The ae springs are a close second followed by avid, which always felt raw to me. Lap times are identical between the brands as is quality it's just a feel thing for me. Losi, however is by far the worst of the big bore springs I've run.

Their are lots of good options out their. If I were to change brands I'd go Speed Passion (the same unit as Hobbywing and Orion).

I currently run LRPs and couldn't be more UNHAPPY with their terrible customer service. I have 3 sxx comps. The throttle and brake "feel" is very good. However, I sent 2 of my ESCs to LRP for the free BEC upgrade. Since sending them in, they have provided me with no updates (not even a confirmation email). When I contact LRP, they act arrogant and bothered that I inquire about the +$400 in ESCs i have sent in.

I have called LRP 2 times over the 30+ days they have had my ESCs.

At this point, I am writing the ESCs off as I don't think I'll LRP is going to send them back.

Based on my experiences with LRP, I do not recommend them.

I used to use LRP but switched to Tekin for this very same reason. I sent in an ESC for repair/inspection and it took nearly two months until I received it back. AE services LRP equipment here in the U.S. For as much as I love my AE 1/10 vehicles, I was uber pissed at their sub-par LRP support. I would call and/or email for updates but only to receive very generic responses, like "it's in line to be serviced" or "it should be done soon", etc. For someone who races week in and week out, being without an ESC for two months is really not an option. LRP is based in Germany and there is a very small cynical part of me that thinks they send these things to Germany for repair

In hindsight it was a blessing in disguise because I love my Tekin ESCs! I think they are very smooth, extremely easy to program with our without the Hot Wire interface and their customer service is exemplary!

They will send them back...one day for sure so don't write them off, but you are correct, they are not doing a good job of upgrading these...they really should have waited for the Flows to come out so that most people would not even take them up on the offer to upgrade the BEC...they would likely just bought new FLOWS...Mine have been gone for a while too. No fun!
