Here is the reason!!!!
Tape the hole shut on the rims. I wish these companies would just stop putting holes in there wheels. All they do is let dust into your foams and they start to break down and get ruined.. With having a hole in the tire instead the dirt, dust and water from cleaning get flung out of the foam.
All foams need to breathe. If you don't put a hole in the tire after you tape the rim hole closed it will just bounce like a ball if air tight.

Most guys will punch a small hole in the tire instead of the wheel to allow any entrapped dirt/debris/water to be flung from the wheel through the tire by centrifugal force.
Putting a hole on the inside of the wheel will cause centrifugal force to work in the opposite manner by allow dirt/debris collect inside of the wheel which will allow it to work it's way into the tire while your running.
I build my tires both ways, depends on the track conditions and the vehicle that I am gluing up the tires for. 1/8 I've always done the hole in the tire but for something like 1/10 buggy on an indoor on clay track I will just put a hole in the wheel.
Also...Typically, all tires need to be vented regardless of the type of insert.
I usually do two, located opposite of each other and along the center line of the tire. I use a leather punch to make the holes, using typically the second to smallest hole (if I remember correctly).

Don't shave those they are for the tranny case... Just dremel with caution take your time and shave it down as flush as possible. I used an exacto knife in a rush. And to mention I went back to the stock brace with the B option. I liked it better on our dirt and lay out. I couldn't get the shaved mod to rotate as well on our lay out. Lots of tight turns..
