I haven't ran Sc in awhile and need gearing suggestions for my Ultima SC WC. I will be running on a medium sized outdoor loose track with a revtech 17.5 and Orion R10 in open.

So I have been wanting a taste of mod and finally Bought a LRP vector x12 8.5 with 18/87 gearing.
LOVE the mod speed after only running my truck with a 17.5.

Any weight adding suggestions for running mod vs/stock?

This is going to depend heavily on your driving style and track conditions. What I find works well for me and 1 ounce up front (half under the front bulkhead and half above or on top of the bulkhead) and half ounce on the outside most part of the chassis, center of the front and rear wheels. I play with the position of my battery (front or rear bias) based on the track condition depending on if I need more or less steering.

I run a 10.5 motor heavily boosted (motor can temps around 150F after a 5 min race, 165F after a 7 min race) with an associated slipper geared 84/19. The track I run at is an indoor clay track that usually has pretty high bite (110' X 70').

Good rule of thumb is to start out with Tebo's setup and adjust to your driving style.

Anyone here running the the yellow x gear rear springs? If so what are your thoughts? I run on a large indoor 1/8th scale track with some big air, truck is excellent running a tebo setup with different shock setup to give me the pack I need, the only thing I'm lacking is off power steering in certain parts of the track. Was thinking of going to the stiffer x gear springs in the rear to get more weight to transfer forward thus giving me a little more steering, unless theres a better way to get it that won't cost $22 for 2 springs

Which Tebo setup? If you don't want to tinker with the shock setup you have..a few things to try...
-lower front roll center (add a washer to inner camber link)
-more front camber
-make sure you are running 2deg anti-squat (no shims)
-more rear droop if you are running limiters

I run yellows all around on my DB and love it! I have a pair of red rears but have never even tried it... I just may sometime.

I just switched from 17.5 stock to an 8.5 mod and i need to know it i can run the same gearing. I was running 26/78 on a wide open 1/8 scale track with a large whoops section. Both my motors are speed passion with a tekin rs pro, its my first time out with an 8.5 so i have turned my epa down to 85% to get the feel down.

Just to double check but the BB shocks that come on the SC-R SP do accept the TLR 22 springs and pistons, no? I was reading else where that they did, just want to confirm

Well after having my scr for a few weeks I'm finally going to take it to the track and drive it again. I realized my servo saver was super loose(it had no steering) ride height was impossible to get right(shocks were way low on fluid and rebound was far differenent between each one) and wouldn't hold an alignment. (see above) now I just need to get a ball diff rebuild kit and I'll be good to go. In the limited time I've driven this truck it's great, but my heart lays with the buggys.

His 2012 bb setup from crcrc, I'm not running any limiters or shims in the rear. I may try the lower front roll center, thanks...My biggest reason for asking about the stiffer rears is my truck seems slow to rebound in the rear but since my track is fairly smooth I though maybe a stiffer rear spring would give me the steering I'm looking for without taking away rear traction but maybe I should try some other things first.

The SC-R is smoother, more forgiving, has a bit more rear traction, less twitchy, however you want to describe it. They are both very competitive.
