too late. i just got a xxx-nt kick plate so i guess ill be using losi front and i will see if i can fit the losi rear on it.

rammstein88 11-29-2009 08:32 PM

thats what i used for my last project, the xxx-nt kickplate.

banx 11-30-2009 01:34 AM

i'm having a hard time stopping the rear end from kicking out on my mid motor xxx-t conversion.......(idle gear mod)

and that buggy looked like it handled well in the video.

so do you mind posting your setup? or a good starting point?
itwould be very very appreciated man.

rammstein88 11-30-2009 10:23 AM

whats your current setup, including tires and track conditions?

try new tires or soften the rear end a bit.

look what i got today:D

Only just picked up on this thread :D Thought I'd post some pics of the "Hulk"

I've been liking the RB5 parts for both adjustability and toughness, so used as many as possible throughout the design/build. Whole RB front end from servo forward, RB shocks, internals of the transmission and rear arms etc. I really wanted a buggy look so yes, it is a cromoly tubular rollcage :sneaky:

I've been running it for a few months or so and it only gets better with every outing. It's been as tough as nails and weighs around 1,530g with a Fantom 3200 battery. Enjoy, Paul.

still have a peice with your name on it.On a related note, I finally got off of that whole sheet I couldnt use due to the thickness being very inconsistant.I even told the guy how inconsistant it was and he still wanted it.I lost a little $$$ on it(around 60.00) ,but at least I recouped most of the cash.

MOPAR where did you get your CF from?? It looks very flat and consistent weave pattern.Drop me a PM if you would please.

BEZERK-- Lovin that custom tranny, that is just dope as hell!

2wdMod 12-01-2009 07:54 AM

On another related note We got the chance to test out a MM ST based on the GV2-T sat. evening at proving grounds. The results were very good. The truck ran box stock settings as far as camber link positions, shock pistons and springs. The truck ended up 4th in the A in a VERY competitive main loaded with local drivers that have been running that layout since the ttrack was opened in oct. We are working through a couple of design kinks right now, after they get ironed out I will post pics of the stadium truck, THEN the sct:sneaky:

I am digging the conversions!!! Have any of you had experience with the motor rotation direction and how that affects the cars handling? I have seen Atomic-Carbon's xxx-cr conversion and they have a 3 gear and a 4 gear tranny option. it seems as though there isn't much difference then? I would assume one wants to push the front end down and the other pull it up under acceleration making it a tuning option but I DUNNO!

I see P. sinclair browsing at the bottom, I will let him feild your question since he does a MUCH better job explaining it than I.

We here at X Factory began our X - 6 with a standard '3 gear' transmission, and I ran it for two years (one year prototyping and one after we released it) before we came up with the 4-gear idea. They idea is to get the motor oriented so the armature runs 'forward' or in the same direction as the wheels. When that's the case you get increased weight transfer to the rear on acceleration, forward under breaking, and much greater pitch control in the air. IMO putting in the 4-gear transmission really helped realize the mid-motor's potential, and I've never run on a track where I wanted to go back. The rest of X Factory's team drivers at the time, around the world, echoed that sentiment. If you're running on high-bite all the time, its not going to be quite such a big deal, but on looser or slicker surfaces it can be worth its weight in gold.

The transmission was certainly the biggest project of the build and I too thought the four gear box sounded from a theoretical point of view like a good idea. One of the guys here has experimented with both the X6 and the Atomic and the X6 keeps winning out for traction. I've no complaints at all, it seems to hook up awesome even though the weight distribution is biased a little further forward than a rear mount. Having it biased forward also helps with on-power steering as an added bonus.

This thread is very interesting with lots of good ideas as i am working on my
2nd Losi XXXT SCT and it will be a MM design. I have seen lots of ideas for the 4 gear trans and well as Atomic Carbons Losi trans mod. I have alot of work ahead of me thanks everyone for the great info.
