mid motor 2wd buggy conversion

i needed something to do to my xxx-cr and i found these pictures of mid motor xxx-cr's so thats what i did to it. i had to cut the plastic part that goes over the battery in the back off, trim both sides of the battery holder and drill new holes.

and i made a brace forthe transmission because it was flexing a lot.

i was going to use a saddle pack but i changed my mind and used a reguler stick pack

i made a rear bumber out of a xxx-4 bumber

I love the idea and you did a very good job.

After reading about the X Squared X B4 somethin in another thread got me wanting to do something similar to my car.

However, having to turn the lipo sideways would eliminate the majority of the benefits you got from moving the motor woudn't it?

Still awesome, very unique and got me wanting to try something similar.

i did that once...makes me want to do it again.

where at in michigan are you?

mopar1994 10-10-2009 09:07 PM

with the lipo sideways it still handles awesome on the track and it turns really good

I did this to both a Truck and a xxx-cr a bit ago...welcome to the
club.

I have a brace under the trans to the chassis, but might do a similar over the
battery brace.

Can this be done to a B4?

I love the idea. Great pics guys.

The truck and buggy look very nice y2kgtp. What brand of battery is that in the buggy? I got an x factory tranny today so I'm gona mount that tommorow. I also have a little metal spacer that bolts onto the bottom of the motor plate and the chassis to stop a little of the sideways flex

Give Atomic R/C a look, they're a UK outfit that does a nice carbon chassis mid motor conversion for the Losi cars.

Except I have a B4 and want to know if this conversion is possible on one.

And seriously, everytime I see you post something I read your sig, look at your avatar, read your sig again, and waste who knows how many mins doing this.

It's just silly because I can't believe what I am reading. It makes no sense!
Care to shed any light on it's origin? Or maybe delete it so I can move on with my life?

#1 the post about the losi conversion was for the OP, for you, check out the X-Factory conversion, it's the best way to go mid-motor on the B4, they even have a 4 gear transmission so the motor spins the right way to help weight transfer to the rear under acceleration (one of the difficulties of mid motor 2wd).

#2 the sig is what the text that's too small to see says in the picture of the bunny. The first time I saw it I laughed so hard it hurt. The rabbit is Oolong, more on him here > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oolong_(rabbit)

y2kgtp, got pics of the buggy with the battery out?
How do these handle on the track?Whats the benefits of the mid motor conversion?
I plan on picking up an older bk1 and doing this to it.
