slipper

Anyone running the VTS slipper?

eper 05-09-2012 03:13 AM

hey guys just thought id share my big bore spring swap findings with you all. a few pages back some of you where having problems getting your ride height low enough with losi or kyosho springs. I was also having this problem. I replaced the ae eyelits with the short kyosho eyelits and can know get the ride height adjustments i'm lookin for. my next idea would be to take .120 inches off the stock eyelit. in order to use this short of an eyelit you must use the traxxas lower retaining cup as the losi cup is seated to deeply for this short of an eyelit. hope i helped out a few fellow racers with this info

Yep. When I first ran Kyosho rear springs, I ran them with just the traxxas adaptor on top (no adjuster). If that isn't appealing, the next best option is to buy the GHEA collars.

Can anyone recommend me a good sensored brushless motor for my SC10RS?

I'm eying the Viper VST 13.5t because the kv rating is lower than most other 13.5t motors (more torque). Basically I'm just looking for a motor with more low end torque and a little more top end than the stock Reedy. I feel the Reedy 3300 doesn't have the needed punch to hit doubles from a roll and sometimes I get left in the straights. I can't gear my current setup much higher (17/87) because the motor will be blazing hot. I'm only beginning to get into racing so chances are I won't need anything lower than 13.5 right now but I thought about going 17.5 as well. What are the differences would I see between 13.5 and 17.5?

.

A 17.5 will get you into stock class, which is a great place for newer drivers. Anything lower will require running modified class, or maybe a super stock class for 13.5, again not great for newer racers...

Also, you can go to a smaller spur gear which will let you run a bigger pinion.

What boosted 17.5 motor that will be faster than the stock Reedy 3300? It sounds like it's more in gearing than anything but I just want to make sure I understand what you're saying. It might come down to I won't ever sack up and enter a race, which is why I'd entertain the idea of a 13.5 or 10.5 too.

Your 3300 is closer to a 13.5T motor. With a sensored motor, I wouldn't go any higher. It has good torque but the top end will be a tad slower than lower turned motors. You can turn up the end bell a little but gearing will be the most important. I've been running a 13.5 against Mod SC trucks and beating a most of them. It will come down to driver skill.
I run a Novak SC havoc Pro and ballistic motors and I race with another guys who run Viper 8.5's and 13.5's and we all go neck to neck each race. As far as Manufacturer, go with what you prefer as they all are good.

I still feel that a 10.5 should be a spec'ed motor class for SC. 13.5 is a bit lacking on the big jumps, but my 10.5 is perfect. It has a good balance of torque and top end. Any thing below is Mod...;)

Does anyone know if the AVID springs will fit on the proline powerstroke shocks directly with no mods? I tried a set of losi SCTE springs and they fit nice, but I didnt like the way they felt.

NismoMike runs them. If you ran the Losi springs, then the Avids will fit.

Nice to hear! I plan to get a set now. I hear a lot of good things about them.
