Question about shimming the ball diff. Do you shim it so there is 0 side to side play when it's installed in the case as long as it spins free or do you want a little bit of play from side to side? Also will it hurt to put a shim in one side but not the other if one does the trick? Thanks

I would want a teensy weensy bit of play....like 0.2mm. Shimming one side? Hey, if it works why not?

How often do you guys change the gears inside your diff? Put a fresh diff in my SC10 and it started making noise when I squeeze the throttle (on power) kind of like when your pinion & spur gear mesh is to tight. It's not the honking noise from a slipping diff. That is what has me puzzled. Slipper is set to pull the front up about 1-2".

I think it is the top shaft gear to idler gear mesh. I just rebuilt a tranny with a new top shaft and idler gear and it is very loud. put a different diff gear in it and its still loud, i dealt with

I had that problem with mine a while back after putting a new diff in my truck,, turns out I didn't put both pairs of shims inside the diff, I put one of them between the output and the diff, tore it apart and put both shims inside diff the noise has been gone since,,,,, maybe you did the same??? hope this helps.

Forgot to mention that I'm using the ball diff. There are no shims. Just the spacer on the top shaft. My 6.5 must have worn things out. Guess I'll go grab a new top shaft, idler, & the gear the diff balls sit in.

any one tried the Losi 22T front springs on the front of their SC10 yet? the 22 fronts will work, but a spring thats slightly longer than the 22 front would be nice...

Default Diff too loud

Another way to make your diff a bit smoother and much more quiet is to apply a little 70-80 wt shock oil between the idler and diff gear

Default 32P gears

I just picked up a SC10 in hopes for some racing action. I still have a slash 4x4 and previously had a Slash 2WD that I did the 32P mod on and loved it. Now I have a ton of 32P pinions and wanted to know if I could do a similar mod to the SC10?

You can pick up a set of sc10 4x4 32 pitch spur gears and they will drop right on: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBATN&P=7
