Based on my experience with an older SC10, the main things that will break are arms and the front bulkhead. The old arms (and I believe the front bulkhead, but someone else should confirm this) are nowhere near as tough as the new ones (from AE, not even RPM). As we've swapped out the old arms that broke for new ones, we haven't had to replace them again because they just don't break.

Having a little issue with my sc10. It handles great, but sometimes the wheels bottom out on the body, and my body is raised up in the back till i can't raise it anymore. I am running 40 weight all over and running on carpet. built my shocks with 1/4 rebound and running red springs front, silver rear. Can anyone help?

Go to a smaller hole in the piston. That will allow the shock to pack up at slower compression speeds. Might even allow you to ease up on the oil weight too.

hey guys im getting a sc10 ft from the wife for christmas. now i have never raced 2wd sc before so im looking for a little help. i have 2 options on electronics to put in this truck. i want to run mod 2wd so i was looking to put in an lrp ssx v2 tc with a reedy sonic 7.5t, or a tekin rs with a redline 10.5. im not sure on how the truck will handle the 7.5 or what gearing would be a good starting point. I also wanted to know if you guys are running ball diffs or gear diffs? thanks again for any help you can offer.

Has anyone tried big-bore springs on their truck at all? Truck hit the track for the first time tonight and was pretty good. Thinking big bore shocks would be unfair on it. Hope AE is working on something.

If you are new to racing, go with the 10.5. Run it without boost or timing and get used to it. As soon as you feel like you can handle more speed, set your boost and timing. If that get to feeling sluggish, go with the 7.5. I run a 7.5 Epic Duo and I love it, but I ran 13.5 for over a year first until I really learned how to drive. Now I love the 7.5, but it can get you into trouble fast.

I'll throw my opinion out there on the ball diff vs. gear diff. Ball diff all the way. I've heard way too many problems with the gear diff and the ball diff out performs the gear diff. A well setup ball diff will last for quite a while. There are thread sticky's and youtube videos to show you how to do it.

As far as the power goes, it doesn't hurt to buy too much motor IF you are willing to turn the power down. If not, you will beat the crap out of your truck and get really frustrated. Many times, slower is better.

Thanks for all your suggestions and opinions. I'm not new to racing, just never raced 2wd sct. I race 2wd durango buggy, and a losi scte. I may just put a 17.5 and boost it little by little to get familiar with the truck.

The real question here is can your wife drive an r/c car? If it's her first attempt at r/c she would be better off with a Slash or a 17.5 motor in the SC10. Walk before you run.

I'm partial to Tekin ESC's. Started with a 10.5 Redline in my SC10FT. It's an indoor track, usually tight & technical. Geared mostly 21/84. Decided to motor up. My only other motor is a 6.5. Nice thing is I can 'tame it down' with the Tekin RS. It's geared 18/84. I can get 10 minutes track time and both motors come off about 140-150'. Your results may vary.

Definitely the ball diff. Follow the setup guide on this site.

Hope your wife enjoys her new truck. It's always nice to see husband & wife both involved.

The tires will hit the stock body. Rears do it more than the fronts. Only thing to do is buy a different body. Santa is bringing me a Proline Flo Tek. J Concepts has some nice ones too.

Probably not the answer you wanted. So here is another- duct tape under the body where the tires hit.

The V2's with the FT kit work great for me.

Are the gear diffs still that bad durability wise? I've been a serious racer all my RC life, but have been itching to build a car for the sand dunes that pepper quite a bit of MI. A 2wd sct with a jconcepts Bajr body and 4 pole motor has been slowly assimilating itself on the corner of my work table and since it's just for funsies a low/no maintenance gear diff is next on the list of items to feed it by spring time.
