no you only need 0.5 deg from a B4 and then use the toe mount from the FT SC10, with that you'll have 3.5-4 deg toe in which will make the car hook up better and come off the turns sweet.

I have the RTR brushless with stock 4 degree plate, but I read run a 3 degree plate with 1 degree rear hubs, because the 4 degree plate shortens the wheel base too much.

Anyone have the Proline Raptor yet? I like the Jconcepts one but it didnt last very long. Curious just how much difference the cutout up front makes. I dont see anything out there working any better

Default Charging batteries via XP3-SS charging port

Hi,

Does anyone charger their batteries direct from XP3-SS charging port before? What is the setting on the charger I need to select to charge it? Assuming I have 8 pcs AA NiMh 2850mAh?

I'm using the IMAX B6 charger that has the round connector which match the XP3-SS port but not sure about the setting.

Hey guys! Huge question. Just got the kenetic esc and ballistic 17:5 motor. Really excited . But..... I know nothing about boost or timing. If you can give a set up and gearing! I run at a indoor clay track and hot rod hobbies. And while I am at it, before I start any little tricks I should know?

I'd back off the boost and set the timing at 0. Unless you LIKE doing doughnuts.

I run an SC10 with a Ballistic 17.5 and the Kinetic. I run on a medium traction indoor track and would recommend 22-24/78 gearing (8.8 FDR) with 40 degrees of timing. Another key factor is the speed at which you allow timing. I recommend starting the ramp at 2000-4000 and max speed of 10,000 to 12,000 RPM.

Once you start you should check temperatures either in the Kinetic with Novalink or with a temp gun. Your high bite track may have more effect. If you start with 22/78 and 40* then you can increase or decrease timing to maximize your temps. I like the push the temps no higher than 160*.

Do not use Boost until you have everything else dialed in. This feature was designed for road racers and on most offroad tracks do not have the traction to make this worth using. Since you have a high bite track it may help you but I still think you will find that it is not needed.

You can PM me if you want to have more direct help. I love the Kinetic and I am more than able to compete with any other ESC.

Good luck.

I am running a FT SC10 as well. What would be good gearing on a boosted 17.5 BL Tekin? I am running the Tekin RS Pro ESC. I am running 50C 5000mah 2S lipos.

I am running 28/75 right now. It seems to be good to me, but I really don't have any idea what good is. My temps this weekend were about 125 degrees at the end of the can. I noticed that the truck is not as punchy or as strong around the 7-10 minute mark as it is when it first hits the track. Is that normal? Like I said I am new to electric.
I appreciate the help.

I used to run 28/75 on with no timing with a Novak SSPro motor (30 deg base timing). Adding timing to this gearing increased my temps too much. This is a FDR of 6.96 which is very low. What ever gearing you choose you will have to adapt timing to the temperature of the motor. If you have a Novak motor then you can capture the temps in the Kinetic and read them with Novalink. This works so well for me that I don't even use my temp gun anymore.

That would place you at 6.96 correct? (75/28=2.678x2.60= 6.96) Or is this not the same as the cars? Do you guys have a problem with them getting hot at this final gear ratio in the trucks? I'm building a truck and will be using a 10.5 and was wondering.

With a 10.5 I think the recommended gearing is 19/87 or 11.91 FDR without dynamic timing.

With the FDR = 6.96 I did not have heat issues without dynamic timing. With as much as 40 degs advance you would need to reduce the pinion by as much 4 teeth. I recommend more to start with and then increase pinion size if temps are low and you need more top end.

the 10.5 varies a lot based on what motor and how much timing you have, I am at 23/84 with no boost speedo and the timing about 90 up on the timing ring of a purple banded novak. With my black orion I gear about 20/87 so big difference between the two. Try to get your temp to run about 150-165 and you will be in the ball park, but remember if it is geared too low and revving too high you will get excess heat... so you have to be in the ball park to get the motor temp to work

So on average the trucks run 11.90 or so of FDR. This must be that the trucks weight are greater. I'm still getting back into this after a long time away. It seems the buggy guys are all around 6.5 or so with 13.5 Novaks in them.

Thanks for your help. I would pm you but I think my questions might help some one else , so ill make public! But if it gets crazy ill send you one. So I don't have the nova link and going to do it with the blinks. So what is ramp? I will so the 22/78 like you said.
On another note the build went really smooth. Only took 4 hours to build next is the electronics. Thanks
