If your not using stock tires and something that can hook up, and you get your setup right, then the 10t will work good. The only thing you have to worry about then is the driver (no pun intended). I find on the larger track that I run on with my setup now with a 13.5 I am pinning it a majority of the straights and a couple of corners of our track, which means I can step it up after getting it dialed now.

At our track everyone runs 540 size motors. For brushless setups its pretty much open in terms of esc's. Tekin RS, novak havoc or GTB etc. I've been running a GTB with 10.5 motor and it works great.

The sidewinder with the software / link is a very good deal. Gives you plenty of options for setup.
In stock class I've been using the 17.5 Ballistic/Havoc Pro. Plenty of power and a good bit of adjustments (just not as easy to setup as the sidewinder).
