Questions?? SC10 Brushless

Looking for some recommendations for a brushless motor to replace the stock unit.

My local rules state that brushless is not allowed in stock truck racing. Is that normal or just my local track? Trying to stay stock to keep it cheap and learn more.

I'm going with the Castle Mamba Max Pro because unlike the Sidewinder it is both sensored and programmable.

Sidewinder is programable. I have The 5700kv sidewinder system and love it. but I would have to suggest that you get the 4600kv one because i have to tame mine down allot for racing. I use the field link to set up my ESC and it works wonders.
Oh ya and our rules stock is what came out of the box with the truck

stock around here is box stock OR 17.5 brushless. I found that 2 identical sc10's, 1 with stock 17t and 1 with 17.5 brushless are very equal (identical meening gearing and battery). the bl has more outta the corner, but the brushed will catch back up by the end of a straight

the real comparsion is a 27 turn brushed to a 17.5 brushless. 17 turn is like a 13.5

yep, I've heard several people who put a 17.5 in an SC10 complain that it was too slow. However, I also know a couple with 4600 and 5700KVs that say they're too much.

ThunderbirdJunkie doesn't race his, but he would agree that the 4600 on 2S is borderline too much.

Then again, the PL Switches on the truck don't really allow it to hook like it should.

That is not normal on an open minded track most track will let you run 17.5 on a stock class just like ROAR with or without boost on your ESC. Yes brushless system is far more expensive than brush system nowadays. Most of these rules are made up by local drivers that either does not want to spend money on brushless system, guys that are really good on tweaking the box stock motor and yes they can be tweak to perform better or a hobby shop that wants to sell more motor and brush ESC to local racers coz once you buy brushless it is very rare you will buy another one really soon once you find the sweet spot. I could be wrong on these statements but this is my opinion may be they just want to level the playing field for everybody.

Hey all,

Just got my Rockstar Ed. SC10 a few weeks ago and I LOVE it!

Question about the Reedy motor though, should it fail on me within 3 weeks??? Last week I had to put new brushes on it, and then when I was racing last Sunday, it just stopped working.

I would rather not go brushless yet, but I hope these stock motors last more than 2 weeks...
