Tekin RX8 1/8 Scale Brushless ESC Thread
#6946
So are you guys thinking the first RX8 production is more reliable than later production runs? (That is a totally serious question - not intending to be sarcastic at all)
I don't know. I bought my rx8/2050 in July of 09. It had the new rotor motor but no idea what version of the esc it was.
He got his in the spring and had the old rotor in his motor (again I don't know of the esc version but I would assume it was the earliest version).
He is a rookie driver and although he is not a hack he is a bit more rough on his car then I am.

funny you say that theres a guy at my track (same exact car, same exact setup as i run) and he crashes much more and harder! and his stuff refuses to break and he got his rx8 before me, its much older than mine and his rx8 just wont quit.........and he's way harder on his stuff than me, i have been doing everything i can do to be easy on my stuff, drive smooth, makes sure not to flat land, and mount it on vibration/shock absorbing mounting gel made for electronic in rc use, and mine keeps breaking and he goes out and crashes the heck out of his stuff with no regard to his car or electronics and his doesn't break!
it just goes to prove that not all of the rx8's are bad only some of them, lucky me

I hope you are not talking about me????
If it is, we do not run the same setup!

is there a reason flipping the diffs is a better idea (VE8) than just using the esc to reverse the direction of the motor. If so why

It changes the direction of the torque in the drivetrain that can effect the cars handling. Example: If your car is heavy on the left side & the torque twist the car to the left, that would be worse than if the torque twisted the car to the right (offsetting or countering some of the extra weight on the left). I know a guy who did this with his X-ray & it worked well.

The current limiter dropped my laptimes and made them extremely consistant. I had days in heavy traffic that my laptimes stayed on the same tenth of a second all day. I remember seeing a 13 lap run I had that was 29.5 seconds every single lap after making that current limiter adjustment. My home track has very inconsistent traction and I felt I needed an edge and the current limiter on my RX8 was the perfect edge. Very valuable adjustment.

Guys, i will be using RX8 + Tekin T8 2050 on 4S 5.000mah on this track :
The system will be mounted on a Hotbodies Ve8. I dont have much experience on 1/8th electric, can you more or less give me tips on PINION size ?
thanks guys,

Pato, try going with a 21 Tooth pinion on you V8e. That track is loose and you will most likely add a touch of current limiter as well. If the layout goes open up and get faster you can roll to a 22 also.
