i forget exactly what Tekin calls it, but my R1 Pro esc has a programming feature that is like a forced coast setting, and it will allow it to coast longer and faster than when it is turned off, will look it up when i get home, maybe the Rx8 will have this feature?

It would be cool if the ESC kind of had a small push of the throttle at very low RPM for a second or two to make up for the extra drag we have when trying to freewheel.
We have it, it's called Push Control. It does exactly the opposite a Drag Brake does.

We will make it accessible through the HotWire.

Anyone at Tekin,

I'm assuming the output voltage on the on-board BEC is 6.0 volts. With better servo technology many of us nitro guys are liking the extra performance of running our servos on direct 2S LiPo Rx packs. On my conversions I run a seperate Rx pack and run it direct to my Rx, PT and steering servo. The Hitec 5955 servos on 7.4 volts make incredible torque and are very quick. I refuse to go back to 6.0 volts....LOL

So my question is if the output voltage of the BEC can be adjusted? Or can we get them in a version that has a higher output (7.0 volts would be ideal). You have to remember that even a 5-cell NiMh himp pack puts out a LOT more than 6.0 volts when fully charged.

I'm not sure I'll use the on-board BEC as I do like teh seperate Rx pack (and trust it). But I'd like to have the option of not using it possibly.

Thanks and best regards,

Castle has regulators that are PC voltage controllable. It would be sweet if Tekin has a feature on the Hotwire to set the BEC voltage.

I have ben using a R1Pro for a long time and asked about that "push control" setting in the past. I was told it wass not active for brushless motors and was only intended for use with the brushed motors. Is this different in the Rx8 or possibly it was turned on for the R1Pro in one of the software updates and I just wasnt aware of it?

Also, Can you tell me what the outside diameter of the motor can is on the outside of the fins. Wondering for the Tekno motor mount. It requires getting the correct mount for the motor diameter. I think thye have 36mm, 40mm, and 44mm. Will any of these work with the Tekin motors?

Will the RX8 Motor combos have pre installed motor wires?

I emailed Tekno yesterday about that and they responded back and said "the 44mm mount will accommodate the Tekin motors."

Motor specs:

Weight: 4030: 11.5oz (341g) 4038: 14.25oz (404g)
Shaft Dimensions: 19 x 5mm w/flat
Motor Diameter: 1.57” (40mm) / 1.65” (42mm) including fin
Motor Length: 4030: 2.80” (71mm) 4038: 3.0” (76mm)

Tekno has our spec and will accomodate our T8 line.

Push control wasn't originally turned on in brushless mode since at the time there was no need for it.

However now that some of these huge 1/8 motor have a lot of natural drag brake it's been turned on. It's also "on" with the R1 and Rs as well. You must have 189 software or better for this feature to operate.

Push control I can say was something that I through into the FX series of esc's as a way to get more accurate "creep" for racing stock motors.

It just so happens it works killer in 1/8 BL!

Which of the KV motors should I be looking at for a 4 cell setup in Buggy? I want it to be driveable and have a strong linear pull. I have a smooth throttle finger (years of driving 2wd mod and stock buggy). Thanks.

the 1900, 2050 or 2650 would all work. The higher the KV the stronger it will feel, but also the shorter run time you will get.

I personally would say the 2050 would be a good choice if they perform similar to the Neu 2050 motors. (which Im sure they will)

I would like to put this setup in my mbx5 prospec.I'm new to the hobby but after seeing what the brushless cars are doing I know I want to go this route.

For those of us who will be running in sensorless mode are there plans to have the sensor slot on the motor and esc shielded? Like a rubber stopper or something?

+1 on the 2050. Gives a great feel at least with the Neu 1512 2.5D which is 2050KV.
