Hi,

I just got myself a DB01-R.

Do any of you experience 'wheel wobble' when lifting the car off the ground and throttling? Mine wobbles quite a bit. Are my rims warped already?

thanks for the quick reply... i guess its nothing to worry about then...

another question...

i'm running brushless... hobbywing 120A esc with a ztw 8.5T.

At first, I ran it with the 17T pinion... after a 3 min run, found motor to be hot... no temp gun, but seasoned finger-testing tells me its around 90 degrees C. LIPO was also warmer than usual... close to being hot... and of course, it bloated and is now ruined (lucky it was an old battery).

so i guess i'm under geared? yes?

at 17T, FDR of 11 (according to the manual).

I have a 19T pinion in the car now, but yet to run it. a 19T will give me an FDR of 9.85.

Thoughts anyone?

I always take "Novak's brushless gearing advice" as a starting point.
http://www.teamnovak.com/tech_info/b...r_gearing.html

for a 8.5T on a 4wd buggy says a FDR of 9 so you will need a 20-21 pinion.

Even that the best tuning tool it's a thermomether. Do yourself a favor and buy one. It's cheap (10-20$) but a lot useful.

I use a 120 xerun v2.0 on my durga with SP v3 6.5 T and the firmware of the ESC had a major impact on temperature. Try *205g or *205MOD. firmware ( you can upgrade firmware with the lcd program box and a PC).
If the temperature problem persist, check slipper (maybe too thigt), and/or decrease timing.

Hope this helps

Just out of curiosity... have you tried 'converting' the rears so that it can take hex wheels?

Yeah Racing makes 'adapters' for the db01, and was just wondering whether it was worth putting them on. Main reason for wanting to do so is because I also have a Kyosho RB5 SP, and it would be good if the wheels (rear) could be used on the Tamiya as well.

Will putting the hex adapters change the handling characteristics of the db01 in any way?

No, I didin't try it, because when I bougth my durga, I had a B4.
Now I drive a TeamC TC02, and because I store a ton of B4 rear wheels, I directly change the rear axle of my TC02 to fit.

You can try this: Put the original wheels, and with a measure tape, check the rear width.
Now, take the hex of your RB5, and put on the durga axes (direct fif, I hope), and mount RB5 wheels, and recheck rear width.

If it's the same, you can use kyosho wheels on the durga.

One more tip: Cut the front part of the rear wing, so this don't mount on the rear shock tower. This will increase the durability og this part

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help.

I m trying to find somewhere that sells the K parts tree for DB01.

The parts I m after in particular are the K1 parts. Somehow I managed to strip a few of the teeth on it so now my rear diff sits crooked.

Thanks!

Hey there,

Not sure where you are located but if in the US but they will have them at Tamiya's US site.

If in the UK

http://www.fusionhobbies.com/Tamiya-.../ta9115204.htm

http://www.timetunnelmodels.co.uk/li...ducts_id/22079

http://www.tamiyaparts.co.uk/live/ca...ducts_id/22079

TamiyaUSA does not ship outside of the US but fusion hobbies is world wide believe.

Not sure why almost all the places that happen to have these seem to be located in the UK but thats what I was able to find.

Tamiya Racer Rewards

The Tamiya Racing Factory (TRF) has a long history of championship winning vehicles with great drivers behind them. With less than a year of racing under its belt, our new TRF201 buggy has already taken the 2010 2WD Off-road European Championship. In addition, Tamiya also won the 2010 4WD Off-road European Championship with the TRF511. With much fanfare among off-road racers, the TRF502X was recently introduced with 2011 in its sights.

We’re hunting for more victories in 2011 with our 2WD and 4WD TRF buggies. Tamiya America would like to show its support to our racers by offering a reward program to our loyal customers, as well team drivers. This new program is valid for both racing venues listed below:

2011 Reedy International Offroad Race of Champions Jan. 27th – 30th, 2011:

* 4WD Open Class
o 1st Place - $500.00

I just picked up a DB01R and was wondering if anyone had any tips or anything. My major recommendation to anyone is to get the rc screws stainless steel screw kit. Makes assembly a lot less painful (literally and figuratively).

So far the car seems like it will balance out nicely. As far as I can tell the left/right balance is almost spot on and probably won't require any weight. The front/rear balance seems a little tail heavy, but I can't tell yet as I am not done with assembly.

Electronics I'm using:
Tenergy 5000mah 7.4V 25c hard case pack (same as racers edge)
LRP SXX TC-Spec V2
Team Orion 4.5T
Spektrum SR6040 high speed steering servo
Spektrum Pro SR 3000 receiver
AMB/MyLaps V4 transponder

Default Rear outboard ball connector rubbing

Hi. Was wondering if any of you have any problems with the DB-01's rear ball connector rubbing the inner edge of the wheel at full droop? It seems rather odd that such a problem would even exist even though most of the time it doesn't really matter except when the car is in the air.

I am running a DB-01R with the TRF shocks (shimmed to limit droop and prevent the drive shafts from dropping out).

Any insight would be much appreciated.
