60mm wheels for 1/10th buggy ? Just read a press release that includes this line "This is especially attractive for stock racers always looking to reduce weight." What tires are available that are appropriate for use in 1/10th stock buggy ? And are we talking static weight or rotational mass ?

60mm = 2.3622inches. Not quite the 2.4 of AKA and Proline.

If you reduce the weight of the wheel/tire assembly, you will have reduced the actual weight of the assembly, effectively reducing unsprung weight and rotational mass all at the same time

If you were to use them right now you would use the AKA evo series or pro-line also makes some 2.4 tires. JC will be coming out with the 2.4 size in the various treads / compounds as well. You can also trim the bead off of the 2.2 tires to use them on a 2.4 wheel but this should be left to the more experienced individuals. As far as weight, it will reduce static weight but the main improvement will be rotational.

Well said guys; great responses!

Our wheel is actually 2.4" (60.96mm), but 60mm sounds/looks better in print

Our new tire is actually a true 60mm so that it fits the wheel better/tighter for easier gluing

Stay tuned for the tire announcements

I am glad these wheels are taking off. I love the way my vtr and evo wheels feel on high bite. Glad to see JC joining in. That small glue lip might be nice also

PW any news on a dirt tech sct insert. Hoping they fit the carcass of the tire better than the current stock blue foams.

Some guys like to cut the inner step/rib off giving the tire a slightly flatter profile and softer feel. I prefer this for med/low bite conditions.

I haven't done it, but some guys use a hole punch and put small holes throughout the inserts to soften them up.
When you talk about trimming off the step/rib, are you talking about cutting it completely off?

PW, I see in the description it says the B5 wheels also fit the Serpent. Is this a direct fit or do they still need the hex portion modded?

No, not the same thing. It is entirely possible to reduce the total unsprung weight but NOT the rotational mass. The larger diameter wheel which puts the rim out further from the center, that moves the weight of the rim away from the center and is effectively INCREASING the rotational mass UNLESS they thinned the material or are relying on a lighter tire.... Which begs the question, how much do the comparable tires weigh ?

They are still in prototype stage and will fill the tire completely; no ETA yet.

Yes; I use a pair of straight scissors and cut it completely off. This is done for low/med-bite conditions.

The weight of the tire is reduced because the thick inner mounting bead of the tire has been eliminated. The rubber is the heaviest part of the assembly. Just a rough guess would be around 5g per tire.

So I want to experiment with one of my older RC10GT Truck chassis'.

Trying to figure out if bodies for a MM chassis will fit. I know that the older GT has the shock tower toward the rear. Are there any MM Truck bodies that might fit? I know many of the GT bodies are Disc.

Trying to breathe new life into my old truck.

Probably going to, but your placement of the body will depend on whether the truck is the ft (longer chassis) or the older version (shorter chassis)... Don't see why it shouldn't fit with a little adaptation though, they are putting them on gt2's

AKA Red inserts or included white foams for some green Dirt Webs. Running a B5 rear motor of that make a difference...
