Update

I should have known it would be something stupid...

After cleaning the gear diff out and using some Tamiya grease i had laying around i ended up with the same problem. The gear diff still felt like it was locked up. So i backed the four screws out a half turn and it spins freely like it should.

So i truly had a locked up differential that turned out to be a mechanical issue and not a lubricant issue. I may reuse the 30K weight oil in the future. Right now it has Tamiya grease and two drops of the 30K oil. I'll do some testing and see if i get around the course any better.

Still gonna check on the Pro 4 outdrives combined with some AE gears. Should go something like this... Pro 4 outdrives, rings and bearings, TC3 diff bolt and screw assembly, Stealth gear and diff balls.

So was the silicone fluid still in there, or had it leaked out? How were the tranny cases, did it get flung around in there? That's a good tip too, don't overtighten the screws. Thanks.

Diff fluid was still there. Like i said it's Duratrax 30K weight, that's 30,000. And no, it wasn't flung around the case or leaking out of the drives.

The only thing i can really equate it to is Lucas Oil Additive you can pick up at any Auto Zone, etc.

Super thick, super sticky, it actually gets stringy when you squeeze it out of the bottle and it touches something.

I won't know until Wednesday how good or bad the diff is working now.

Default upgraded shock tower options?

Hi folks,

I wanted to upgrade the front shock towers in my ST, since my current ones have a hairline crack from the tower to the body mount assembly. Was wondering if anyone knows of any upgrade options?

Or if not, if anyone has some to spare...I'll pay shipping of course

Cheers

According to Tower Hobbies you can get a direct replacement made of the same plastic or a graphite upgrade which should be stiffer, but some people think more brittle than original.

I'd buy the graphite honestly for the rigidity which will make the shocks do their job and make handling more predictable and consistent.

I've also read that the Losi XX-T towers are a direct fit and provide more tuning options, i.e. more holes to mount stuff.

If you have a local hobby shop they might have replacements on the wall.

Default can anyone confirm 100% Losi XX-T towers will work with Evader ST?

Thanks for the advice on the parts...but if I can get something with more options, that would be even better. So is there anyone who can confirm that the Losi XX-T towers will work on my rig?

Until I ran out of them I put XXT front AND rear shock towers on a ST.

Front shock tower is a direct fit.

Rear shock tower you will need to remove the material between the two bottom mount holes so you can bolt up to the ST bottom hole.

XXT rear shock tower have double mount holes so you can raise or lower the tower, it's a tuning option.

Default Motor/ESC Options

Hi I'm new to the site and have had an Evader BX for about 6 years now and want to give it a good upgrade starting with a brushless motor and esc possibly a combo if it saves money. The thing is I only have a little over $100 to spend on it. Thanks.

$100 and BL = not enough $$$$$

You may find a deal on ebay.

IF you don't beef up the trans, a 13.5/17.5 BL could be the limit. I've ripped them up with a 27 turn race motor!!!

As with any motor (brush or brushless) watch your slipper setting.

Some GOOD ST/BX info here

and a MOD BX here
