I'm feeling like either a late starter, or rather young.

My first was a HPI E-savage 2nd hand form e-bay about 3 years ago.

My first new vehicle was a HPI E-firestorm.

Tamiya Dirt Thrasher.

The car overall was enjoyable, but certain.. issues.. made it less fun.

Suspension and chassis was great, plenty of clearance, took a hammering.

But the gear-box was rubbish. The plastic 'lids' would eventually lift (time would depend on how much power you put in the car) causing the gears to either strip or sometimes escape from the gearbox entirely.

I do miss it because it was my first rc, but if I had it still I doubt it'd be working anymore so it's probably for the best.

As it's been said before, that sucks.

My first was a Fox, and I'm lucky to still have it. It's been restored twice now, and it does get wheeled out on occasion.

My first car was a Tamiya Madcap, which I still have and has been heavily modified. I used to make a point of driving it at a Club meeting once a year. I even managed to win a couple of these in the mid-2000s but it needs some maintenance now which I haven't gotten around to.

The last time the car was driven in anger was the 2007 Nationals at Maitland where I managed to finish it 2nd in the C-final in 2wd Stock (there was a full D-final) – if I'd bothered to use packs newer than 1700 and 2400 NiCds I probably could have made the B-final. It only takes stick packs though, and I didn't want to make any up. The meeting took a lot out of the car though, I need some new metal parts for the gearbox and a new body. Plus I need to make a new front shock tower (it's running a custom FRP unit). If anyone happens to have a new Madcap body or Madcap/Astute/King Cab metal gearbox parts send me a PM please.

Hmm this could show my age...

Associated RC12E with nylon radio tray and solid rear axle. I bought it in 1978. That was followed soon after with a RC12E with ball diff and GF top plate, man that was cutting edge..hahaha.
I also had a Jomac Lightning 2000?? in @ 1980 as well as a AYK 4wd 12th scale.. it actually had 2 motors, a 380 size motor in the fr0nt as well as on the rear. I wish I still had it , probly would be a real collectors item now..
