Set the idle gap to .7mm as a starting point for the tuning process, and the needles back to factory setting of flush as indicated at the start of the tuning guide.

+1 on that & you should be good to go

Do I put the idle screw in all the way then screw out .7mm

I don't think my engine came with shim should it?

all the way out so the carby is completely closed when u look down the carb with the air filter off & the insert out. then turn the idle screw in so u have about a .7mm gap.
the reason u don't see the head shim is because the first shim is an alloy one (similar colour to the head button) & 2 copper ones under it !

I cant get this working if I have the screw out or in it stalls when I put the brake on so I cant run it I have to get someone to help me or I will end up putting it in the bin as its pissing me off I have used about 3-4 tanks on the bump starter.

Does anyone sth of Adelaide know how tune go engines or any engine I could ask RC hobby zone but I work afternoon shift.

Sounds like your brake/throttle linkages are wrong

take it in to the boys at RC hobby zone in the morning & they will help u out !
sounds like your servo & linkages aren't set up right.

when your setting the idle gap hold the carby slide closed when u are setting the idle screw to 0.7mm, then don't touch the idle screw from there, just lean the bottom end needle in 1 hour at a time until it idles. but your servo & linkages must be set up right to start with !

ok thanks shouldnt the engine idle when the carb is closed or not

It's hard to diagnose whats going on on a forum with out seeing it, your best bet is to go to RC Hobby Zone and ask the boys there to check EVERYTHING for you, lincages, radio set up, and check ALL the engine needles etc for you...and talk ya throu what they are checking for as they go.

yes, make sure you put the insert back into the carb after you adjusted idle setting. Also when doing any of these adjustments engine needs to be up to temp. This is how I get all of mine started to idle. The low speed and high speed needles set flush. Idle set at about 1mm,I use a toothpick with the tapper cut off. Then I turn the low speed needle in 1 full turn from flush. Then the high speed needle 1/2 turn in from flush. Get it primed and attach glow igniter. I do not have it hooked up to servo. Once engine fires I keep it going manually[by pulling on the carb throttle] The other thing that helps is to heat engine with either hair dryer or heat gun. It should sit there and idle all day. One thing I forgot to mention,is I always disassemble my new engines clean them out and seal carb base/backplate upon reassembly. That way I know there is no metal in the engine and no air leaks. Also you do not need to do the superman torque down when reassembling.

What he said,if you can't figure it out. I have never had a go or mg-66 that did not fire and idle by doing my method. It may idle high but you can turn it down once it's going AND UP TO TEMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is stalling when hitting the brakes, maybe your clutch is jammed/siezed?
With the engine off and the servos not powered up, can you roll the car freely on the ground? It should freely roll.
Then power on Transmitter and power on Reciever and without touching any of the throttle controls (trigger) push the car again, does it still freely roll?

it depends on where you are? in the states? takes about 2 weeks to get stuff from them. Also answer rc usa sells items for the mg-66.
I see you just joined,so if your here to start bad mouthing massive mods you won't be here long. I can say from years of dealing with them I have always received items in a timely manner[when it's not sitting in customs]. Like you I ordered some parts from Italy on the 5th,still not here. Just remember we are in the busiest time for mailing anything all year. One last thing,as far as go engines parts there are a bunch of dealers on here. Just put the word out and you will have more then enough. I needed orings for the needles.Got about 8 complete sets. One gent sent me some free from NewZeland. All's I'm saying is let us know what you need and I am sure some one here will go out of their way to help you.
