Toy Motors - I heard that . I haven't tried the HellFire of the Core motor but my buddy has that Core motor and likes it. I'm holding off until that Cobalt motor comes out, until then the toy motor will have to do

Mike, how big of a straight is it when it's "full length"? Here, we've got a 116' foot straight, with my XRay/p2K2 I geared it 37-39 120 all depending on the layout. Hopefully I'll be at the track sometime soon again to play with my new Core and Hellfires, got them dynoed, but still gotta track test them. The last month or so I've been running Mod/foam with an Orion chrome 11x2, geared 32/120 I think... don't remember but it's close to that.

Our straight is about 125 - 130' but that changes from race day to race day. Hey Jeff what's your final gear ratio. I'm not too familiar with that x ray

I would say out straight that leads into a sweeper is about 125 feet.

Your at 6.02 with that 30 pinion and 6.23 with that 29. yeah it's a P2K but it's more on the GM3/MVP side when it comes to gearing. It's cool though, use whatever pinion you have, if it's working for you.

I have an Xray, geared stock at 8.23 with a rollout of 23.6 (62mm tires). Should I be gearing lower with the GM3?? I have no experance with this setup. I finished the car at 1 am saturday and raced sunday morning. I was the slowest on the straights, could not out run or hold off anyone Not the I am sir speedy

Stay close to the 7 ratio. Try running 93 x 27 in 48 dps. We run the P2K2 and MVP at 93 x 28 or 29 at our track for refference.

Thanks Arnoud. Stock for my car is 93/24 in 48 dps. I just bought a 25, 26, & 27. I will start with the 27 and go get 28 & 28 to add for later tuning. Thanks

Peak Spirfire / Orion Chrome RS Stock Q
Do the Spitfire alias Orion Chrome Stock require capasitors for noise reduction? (I've lost my instructions...)

Cole - they come with pre-installed surface mount caps, as far as I know.

why should i change brushes??any link where i could follow??sorry if this is a wrong thread for this question.....by the way i'm running stock 23t Kawada motor...the brushes when new is about 10 mm not it's about 7-8mm...is it time to change...or should i wait for a performance drop to change brushes....by the way as i only bash and i'm new to electrics i dun think i would notice slight performance drop.....any advice??

The signs that it's time for a brush change are...
1. When the brushes seem glazed or blackened-up
2. When you notice a drop in performance
3. Excessive wear - you could even wear the brush down to where the brush shunt (wire) is.
When you change brushes, it's always a good idea to skim the comm as well.
But since you're only bashing, I wouldn't worry until you start to notice a performance drop, or the brushes become very short.

Well, I ran my Core motor last night in sedan. Unfortunately I think it'll stay in the box for awhile. It had decent top end, but kind of a pooch out of the turns. Regeared it, had better bottom end, but lost top... can't find a happy medium. Maybe one of my 2 Hellfires will be better, but I doubt it. The Hellfire is awsome in my truck, though! But, I'm gonna switch to Mod Truck now.
If anyone else has much Core/Hellfire experience, please let me know. I'm running an XRay at TCHR, there's a 116' straight with 2 40' sweepers on each end. If anyone was at the NORRCA Carpet Nats last weekend, that's the track.

Yes, you can tune a stock motor. Examples are, align brush hoods, reem or polish the bushings, different brushes, different springs. Also, you can swap cans, arms, and endbells for others of the same type. (P2K to P2K, GM3 to GM3, MVP to MVP, etc)
As to whether you can change cans or not, yes and no... Like I said, yes you can change as long as the replacement is of the same model. But hybrid motors are illegal (GM3 arm in P2K can).
Hope that answers your question.
