You may have to gear that MVP way different from the rage. Stock motors these days produce way different powerbands from one another. You will also have to gear a stock MVP differently from an MVP tuned to Big Jim specs.

hey jericsm havent seen you in a while. im on the park square track this sat, probably with fish, gary, etc. lets race open stock gary's MVP was really fast last time out, though he did use a smaller pinion than with his GM3. i saw your Rage in action and its fast on the straights. i might get a new stock motor within a few days, my GM3 is on its last cut before i retire it. i think ill go for whatever's available in our lhs. each stock motor seem to have its strengths, i just have to look for the correct gearing and some performance tweaks. if youre free, see you this sat and good luck in TCS!

I don't know if anyone has brought them up or not, but Putnam Green and Blue shunt Brushes are amazing in stock motors. Green Positive and Blue Negative. This combo will work awesome. Try it.

yup, i probably have to gear it more agressively, but what i liked about the rage was it can hang out with you guys in my tc3 with a 72/28 gearing, and it was relatively cool after the run..... not so much in the torque, suited for the park square track....

i'll try to see if i can run stock touring this saturday.... tweak my mvp for you guys

Jack Smash, yup.... might have to play with the gearing.... our track is a fast but loooong track, a-main mods doing 23 second laps..... open asphalt, sometimes used as parking.... lots of loose dirt/small stones so guys really opt for 48-pitch. On my Rage, as I mentioned, I was going 72/28 on a TC3. I'll be trying a 29 or 30 this weekend..... MVP = more tourqe than Rage, less top speed? seems that way to me.....

Jericsm, you do need to gear most MVP's taller than you would a GM3 or old Reedy Rage(pretty close to how you'd gear a P2K), but regardless how you gear it, that MVP may run pretty darn hot(but doesn't seem to be bothered too much by it). I've had some success getting good power out of an MVP, but I never could lick the heat problem. However, I've noticed that the P2K 2, when set up right, has a powerband nearly identical to the MVP, but it runs cool & more efficiently. For a really big track, you probably are best off with a GM3, but you can also do well with a P2K 2 or properly set up MVP(those two are probably the most versatile stock motors available right now, no real weakness in the powerband).....

Axiom racing motors recieved the OEM version of the Hellfire Last week. We ran some at the Region 11 carpet champs last weekend and they seemed really fast. They do heat up a bit in a heavy sedan in 5 minute races. With the proper springs and brushes these will be good motors.

You can get them in bulk from rc4less. They are a little more expensive then 767's or 4499's, but they have tons of power. I used one pair of brushes for 6runs(2 practices, 3qualifiers, and 1main) and I still ended up winning the Amain by a lap.

miniman, I have only experienced them on the dyno. When you put them in one way you loose rpm and gain torque, flip them and it is just the opposite. I have found aligning the brush hoods to be the best for performance. One thing to keep in mind that I have just started messing with is when the com starts to get smaller that sometimes triming both sides of the brush down helps. I got that idea from Big Jim and from Jim D.
