Has anyone switch to Jconcepts 60mm wheels/tires for indoor dirt? Wondering which 12mm hex hubs would give the car about the same width, or 1mm more with these wheels?

I don't care if the 12mm hubs are Exotek, Xray, or JConcepts brands.

I placed a 3x8mm screw in the horn, used that as a guide and ground the horn down. Polished with a dremel and then got some sharpie to it.

He sharpie will come off I'm sure, but it's the right size now!!

Are the Xray shocks the same 12mm bore as AE/Yokomo/TLR? I'd like to test some different shock pistons.

Are the shafts the same diameter as well? I think they are.

Schelle offers AE/TLR and XRAY specific pistons...so I would say no they are not the same size. A buddy that has an XB2 also told me they were different, don't know how though.

Curious if anyone else notices that the ECS shaft 2x9mm pins wear fast? I'm noticing slop with the inside pin (closest to the outdrive) after only 4 race weekends.

I'm hoping it's just the pins wearing and not the coupling too as that will get very expensive to maintain going forward. I'm using a moly based black grease on these and wonder if anyone has a better recommendation to keep them lubed and increase life span of parts.

Will last longer in your bearing and on the CVD's. Your CVD's will need pulled cleaned and regreased just about every other race day. I pull a CVD whenever I'm bored in the pits. The Marine grease lets you wash the car off as well, which is handy.

I only needed the outer diameter of the shock pistons. Thanks. I'm going to try the AE/TLR shock pistons that VRP makes.

In my old profession we used to use mobile red synthetic grease for everything until our DC tool manufacturer trained us on repairing the angle heads and gear units on high torque DC tools. They recommended moly type grease for it's superior wear properties and would void their warranty if it wasn't used.

This line of thinking has always led me to purchase moly grease to use on my RC stuff for it's perceived improvement on wear items. I also thought the major RC companies supplying a black moly type grease with their kits were on to something as well (not saying I'm right though).

The generic black moly I've had in kits is great for sliding, and flinging off when dirty. It's designed to flow. Great for low rolling resistance cold bearings. Something RC'ers used to be obsessed about. But I find that it dries out and wear off too quickly. Usually it's best for applications that are sealed up, like a gear box or tool drive.

But our CVD's are right out in the open. The Marine grease hangs around longer. The Red and Tacky flows better, and the CAT HD has moly in it if you still want that.


Grease is cheap, and cars have 4-6 CVD's, so it's easy enough to test each lube side by side.

X-ray pistons are slightly larger than AE/TLR pistons, they are not interchangeable.
