What motor are you running?
Boosted or none boosted?
Questions questions i know but they are important to figure out what FDR you can run.

Now there is a motor i can't help you with as i have never tried that one in the Sakura.
The lightest motor i used was 21.5 brushless and is very different then the silvercan.
Perhaps some other one can help you with that.
Good luck

Hoe do you determine the desired FDR?
Or is this trial and error, by measuring temp on motor and esc?

Let's say you want a silvercan setup, would it be a good starting point to take the FDR of a tt-01 and try to get close to that?

That would mean a 21 pinion with the standard 80 spur for a silvercan, right?

When using that pinion and spur you get a FDR of 7.619.
This is to high for a silvercan motor to get some speed in it, or do you have a very small and tight track?
On what circuit are you going to run?
give us a bit more info on what track your planning to run the car.
Lenght? flowong track, tight twisty track and so on.

it will be mainly parking lot racing, with some friends that run silvercans and 23 turns brushed motors. I currently run a TT-01 with a fdr of 5,72 (25 pinion with a 55 spur). If I can reach the same top end, I will be ok.

I need this to practise a bit more before going to the track.

If I go after the same FDR, that would require a 26 or 27 pinion with the standard 80 spur, right?

We always use the same lay-out of our 'track' being quite a few tight corners and a straight of approx 40 mtrs. Don't need a lot of top end I guess.

I'm new to this stuff and wonder how you determine the ultimate fdr for a motor/esc combination. Is there some logic to this or is it experience and a bit of trial and error?

Thanks for the quick reply.
Bedankt!

You got a internal drive ratio of 1.9 if the car has the stock pulleys.
So 26 pinion makes it a FDR of 5.846
27 pinion makes it a FDR of 5.629
The Sakura will run faster then the TT01 as it is lighter and the car runs smoother.
No there isn't a exact guideline on what FDR you can use as this is different from track to track.
It is all in trail and error.
The 23 turns motor is a lot faster then the silvercan motor.
If you want to free up the car, use the alloy gear adaptor and the 19 teeth side pulley's as this gives you a IDR of 2 and you can adjust the belt a bit more so the drivetrain will free up more.
What city are you from?
Perhaps we could meet some times to do some tech talk

Thanks a lot for all the info! This really helps.

I'm located between Haarlem and leiden, pm for details....
So now i've got to get a hold of some pinions, i'll try bmtuning for them, Although i don't think i spotted these before. Where areyou shopping as I don't want to wait 3 weeks for a pinion from HK.

I also have a ezrun kit with an 8.5 motor but that would be way too fast. I'm searching eBay now for a 17.5 motor or kit.
