those are TB04 Pro shocks. 4mm shorter. Also works on m-chassis and TA06 with different shock towers.

42102 aren't TB04 shocks. They are the standard size. However they lack the large diameter spring retainers that the 418 uses and have a few other detail differences too. Still great shocks, but not a like-for-like replacement.

My bad and I apologize. I simply posted up what Tamiya offers as a TRF damper set for their sedans. To my knowledge (which I admit, is somewhat limited) Tamiya does not offer a complete 418 damper set. I’m sure they will down the road but no signs of anything at the moment.
Torq, the TB04 dampers you’re referring to are the ones from TB04 Pro kit. That set is item number 42273. Those have a short body and short cap which is all together different than any other set of dampers Tamiya offers…I think.
Anyway, sorry again for any confusion I may have caused.

I was more referring to the black coating, 41x cars have used the HL coated shocks since mid 416 series. The works dampers 84317 are the best you can get until the 418 set is released, but you will miss out on the large retainers and new spring collar

Hi,
I have built the shocks as per manual but cannot seem to get rid of the air bubbles inside them, even after letting them sit for 20-30 minutes, and repeating the same thing again.
I have also greased the o ring but problem is still there.
Any advise please?

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I was just on the Tamiya USA web site and under the Special Features descriptions for the 418 it says:
"Special feature 8 : Includes a 20T pinion gear for a secondary gear reduction ratio of 1.85 (Minimizes speed loss when off throttle)"
Did anyone actually get this 20 tooth pinion because I don't recall seeing one in my kit?
