Tamiya TRF418
As expected it's coming, first info available now, more will surely follow soon.
42270 TRF418 Chassis Kit - will be displayed at the Tokyo Hobby Show September 16/17 - to be released November/December as usual - list price in Japan to be 83790 yen (same as TRF417V5) I posted what I have seen so far at http://kentech.blogs.se/ |
About damn time!!!

This will not be the next TRF418, it's a selfmade car from a guy from finland.
Atleast that's what i've heard about the car in the picture, also the car showed up about 2 years ago on a ETS race. Very curious though about the new TRF418, that maybe my next TRF chassis for next years season. |
Probably expect Tamiya's version of the Raceberry TRF417.

Update : Build and review here
http://www.thercracer.com/2014/01/ta...nd-review.html ---------------------------------- Seen a pic of prototype car racing at the Japanese National, didnt think it would be a 418 looks like a low profile 417v5. Hopefully he will let me post it. I hope the final version is quite different. I have some shots of the cars at the race with the tops on, maybe if you squint you can see something :) http://www.thercracer.com/2013/08/ta...first-pic.html Photos of the chassis at the Sept Tamiya Show http://www.thercracer.com/2013/09/ta...ures-from.html |

I think they focused on geometry of suspension because the problems were there. |
Whatever way they go expect it to be a kick a** car. Gotta love Tamiya:lol:.
|
Wow, new arms? They're not just reusing parts from old cars this time around. Very excited to see what they come up with.
|
Finally new arms! Sounds like a major overhaul.

I hope the final version is quite different, that will be nice. **HERE is the pic http://www.thercracer.com/2013/08/ta...first-pic.html Your photo is a dodgy photoshop of the below picture which was taken a while back. I don't think this is it but i suppose you never know.... |
Yep, that looks like I was given a dud pic, I will call it out on the blog post that its a fake (I posted it in good faith), there are some differences on that pic to a std 417 though, like the arms and C hubs

I don't see new gear diff on the list. Hopefully new bulkheads mean new gear diff, because the current one is the worst on the market.
|
2 new TRF models in 1 year - cool.

What's the problem with the gear diff? Using the steel gears an kyosho O-rings makes it strong and leak free.
http://www.thercracer.com/2013/07/ho...-diff.html?m=0 I've been doing the above for a while and for diffs in my buggy (5.5t) and TC although I only run 13.5 / 17.5 normally in TC, Is it a mod thing? |
