Im about ready to bite the bullet on one of these 416x cars.
I know it sounds nuts to turn a $500 RC Car into a Vintage Trans Am,
but that's what im thinking about doing. Get my 416 dialed on carpet.
I bet this car is pretty much dialed straight from the box anyhow.

I'm installing a new Smokem chassis on my 416 tonight. Does anyone have any experience with this chassis? any tuning tips? I'll be running on a fairly large medium grip carpet track. I'm gonna guess that I'll need to stiffen up the front to avoid having too much grip up front.

Try running the one piece suspension mounts at the front and the 2 piece at the rear.
This will stiffen up the front a bit.
Also the steering brace mounted to the topdeck should be used if possible with the smokem chassis.

I can put the original back on when traction comes up. Funny thing is once I had it bolted on the chassis didn't seem that much more flexible than the original. Maybe it doesn't take much additional flex.

mod tc
Hey guys what would be a superior platform for mod touring car racing on asphalt?
The tracks I race on are either a parking lot track with medium traction or a very sooth large track with high traction.
Would I need any aftermarket chassis, top decks ect...?
Any help would he great....

The Spec-R gear differential better than the original ball differential?

Gear-diff is better. I haven't yet tried a track where the ball diff was better. Gear-diff is almost always faster, as you get a lot more on-power steering (depending on the oil you use).

And what are you think, which one is better for Trf416, the Spec-R gear diff, or the Tamiya gear diff which made for the Trf417 ?
