i just ordered mine! I loved this car for a long time but never had the initiative to get one. This offer made it look like as if the car jumped onto my laps

Speedtechrc is selling this car at a steal of a price. I'm thinking of getting one; what 'necessities' do I need for this car and are they still available? Lipo tray, spool, spur gears, layshafts, springs, etc. And what about setups?
Any help would be appreciated

Your going to need the PRS Spur Gear Adapter made for the Type R that fits on the stock layshaft or the listed item below that is an updated version that takes into account wider lipo battery options.

thanks man. My car is on its way Oh, seems like I'll be going to need the longest sensor cable out there! Any idea what's the required length? Highly appreciate any inputs!

The kit supplied plastic lipo tray is usually the only way to keep a rubber tire Type-R under the ROAR/IIC/Birds minimum weight with modern 5000+mAh batteries.

The kit "spool" works fine, just be sure to tighten it enough to prevent it slipping under power. Some people use other methods to pin the diff together but usually end up eating through outdrives.

The stock spur gears are very good, but are bespoke. The aforementioned PRS spur gear adapter allows the use of aftermarket spurs.

The Flying fox layshaft is the easiest way to get the bigger lipos to fit without using additional spacers and sanding the center pulleys (which isn't a big hassle). The FF layshaft also accepts aftermarket spurs without needing to buy the PRS adaptor. Two birds, one nicely machined stone.

All the stock parts for the car are still in production with the exception of some short-run parts which go into and out of stock randomly; notably the graphite components and the steel lipo tray.

Setups are all over the web, pick your poison for surface, try petitrc.com.

I was gonna ask the same question. Also is there a gear diff that anyone makes for this car? What servos are recommended? Futaba S9551? Do people shoe-goo servos into the car (saw some people complaining about clearance)?

So far I was thinking of getting the following for the car:

1. Is Flying Fox and Flying Wolf the same thing? Looking at getting their layshaft.

http://www.skyrocketbatteries.com/pr...products_id=81

2. Exotek Top Plate

3. FlyingFox Spool V2 (when it is available). Any updates?

Any other recommendations?

Chi

Default What a great car!

Hi all,

Just thought I'd share some success I had with my Type R. Our club had our first indoor race of the season and we had a pretty good turnout with 16 cars in Stock (17.5, non-boosted).

I won all 3 Qualies and TQ'd against a field of T3/TC5/416's . In the main I made a few mistakes and was beaten by a friend of mine who is a better driver than I ... but I finished second, only about 1/2 a lap back and was the only car in the Main to break a 9 sec lap!

I gotta say...I just love this thing!

Cheers,
Mike

I had a great day at the track also.
Well, we ran road course today. Had my first DNF in the 1st heat. Ball cup split & allowed the turnbuckle to come out. Got that fixed & adjusted. Won the 2nd & 3rd heats & TQ'd. In the main, I got away clean, but on the back stretch, I drifted out to the outside pipe & caught a pipe joint & proceeded to turn a nice 360 spin in front of the field. So after getting turned back around I was 6th. So I just drove. The car was just a little loose, but keeping a little throttle in it, it drove sweet, & was very fast. At the end, we were 1st.
THIS CAR IS AWESOME!

Oh yeah! Forgot to mention that the last two race days I've been running an Ezrun 10turn 380 based motor against a herd of mambas, mostly 6800kv.

Hi all fellow TypeR drivers....

I will be changing drives over to the new Schumacher Mi4CX due to new sponsorship. Will be missing the 3.5 or so years I have had the R. Good car, solid engineering, but the lack of parts support and support here in Western Australia has made it difficult.

Wish everyone the best, and hope that this car continues to win!!!

Default speedo/receiver placement

does anyone put the speedy/receiver on top of the top deck to centralize the weight? Sure the COG will be higher, however maybe its benefits will outweigh its height! Just curious is all, dont have my losi yet but thinking of alternative ways to mount the electronics.
