I wonder why Schumacher kept the Team edition so undercover?

After all the first i heard about it was when i saw it in my LHS a couple of weeks back!

Lightbulb "SPOOL" or "LOCKED DIFF" ????

Hello to all. Please, could anyone explain to me what is the front "SPOOL", or front "LOCKED DIFF" for MI2 and R12 Schumacher's cars? Thank you so much.

A SPOOL or LOCKED DIFF is a solid front diff with no diffrential action.

Spools have proven to be faster than a one way on most surfaces. They let you carry power deeper into the corner and out break one way users. They also have excellent on power steering when your car is set up right (way better than a diff).

The trick to getting your car good with a spool is to set it to turn in hard and let the rear rotate off power. This gives you all the turn in your need and the spool will yank the car our of the corner on power.

We make a spool by dissassembling the diff, removing the diff balls, throughly cleaning the diff pulley/rings/outdrives. Glue card stock (header card/business card) to one side of each diff ring. Re-assemble the diff with the card side of the rings facing towards the diff pulley and no diff balls. Tighten the diff as in the assembly instrcution but dont back it off...leave it tight. Thats it!

I think it is really something to be proud of I guess I made a huge setup mistake for the A-main and think it may have cost me at least 1 or 2 spots

I would have to compare our car (R12)with the NTC3 as far as handling, but I haven't had any issues with the car changing from brand A to B tire.

BTW: The new R12 Team edition was news to me on Monday morning I really would of love to have seen what I could have done with those much needed updates!!!!
Let say I am very interested in running the R12 this summer. Especially with the ROAR NAts less than 2 hours away in Toledo.

I have concerns about the clutch and gearing choices, etc....

I ran a NTc3 one summer and it was a dream to drive when it was right. But it could turnninto a POS in a heartbeat!! LIke I said-just changing rear tires from Ellegi to Jaco in the same shore could ruin the handling. Maybe my set-up was very closeto loose anyways and the chnage in tires was enough to osh it over the edge.

Paul or Adrian,

Will there be a conversion for the R12 from standard to team version available?

Thanks

I also hope there will be one, but even if there won't, there are not too many parts involved: upper arms, suspension mounts, hub carriers, CVD's, spool, shock towers and clutch. Old chassis can be used, if I understood correctly the difference is only a bigger hole below rear diff. Many people have most of those parts on their car already anyway, my car is missing only upper arms, hub carriers & clutch.

Old man, build the Mi2 and you will see how stiff it is...

in my opinion, it has jsut the right amount of flex for rubber outdoor...

I believe optional topdecks will be available for the rug...
Schumacher tested many thicknesses and configurations of chassis and topdecks...tons were tested at the factory..

the Mi2 has had a very long development time..and it shows on track! =)
