Ok i have a 415 low friction rear belt , just ordered a front TAO4 low friction belt , diff halves will wait until i put an order in at R10 for some EVO IV parts as they cost far too much here in England.

Just got to start rebuilding it once the front belt turns up next week , anybody got a good base setup for running rubber slick tyres indoors on carpet as i have no idea.

May try making the wheelbase as short as possiable in order to cope with the tighter nature of indoor tracks after only racing outdoors on large tracks to date.

I asked this question a few days ago. The response was the link to this current posting.

I've scanned thru the first third of the pages but nothing with any real meat. Those pages talk mainly about the original 414, and 414M.

Is there anyone out there that can give a good opinion about this car in contrast to any of today's current rides?

I wanted to get into this for carpet racing, but I think the chassis is really flexible compared to other cars out there. I assume it's 2-2.5mm???)

Does anyone know if this car can perform well on the rug?

A well prepared 414M/M2 can be just as competitive than any other touring car, specially on carpet where the drivetrain efficiency is not that important (it's not as good as a FK, but still it's quite good).

s for setup on carpet, I'd say start from the basic setup but using harder springs (white front and blue rear), use the two blue ARB aswell.

Thanks for the response, I've got an EVO2 w/c-hubs and low ratio pulleys. I race mainly 27T stock. I was just curious about the 414m2 b/c I can get my hands on a brandnew one is for a very reasonable price.

Just curious why you feel that drive-train effeciency isn't really important on carpet? Compared to your FK is the 414m2 a step down? Also how about chassis flex? Does the 414 soak up too much speed around the turns?

I run the 414 on carpet....Its more consistant (and a bit quicker) my old TC3 or my Evo3

ARBs = Anti Roll Bars

IMHO: Its just a Tamiya T1FK w/o the low ratio pulleys

I don't own an X-Ray...

I say that there are less problems with duration and top speed on carpet because the tracks are much tinier than on asphalt tracks. On a long asphalt track, the 414 struggles a bit with duration and top speed (it is not THAT bad but it's not as good as the latest cars like the Ti FK or the 415).

The 414 is a car that have a lot of steering, especially off power, which is why I recommend you the white springs on front and the blue rll bar aswell. However, if properly setup, it will keep very good corner speed, it's still one of my favourite cars to drive.

On asphalt the 414 lacks a bit of top speed (you need to work a lot on the drivetrain to free it up). Handling wise, it's still very good.

Does anybody have a carpet setup for 414m with rubber tires. I will be racing in stockton Ca. and in the stock class

I run at Hobbyworld Gilroy (hundred + miles south of Stockton I belive)

My Setup:
Front/Rear
Tires: CS27 - CS 22
Springs: Yellow - Yellow
Shock Oil: Either AE 40wt or AE 60wt
Shock Position (Upper): Middle - Middle
Shock Position (Lower): Outer - Outer
ARB's: Yellow - Red
Camber: 1.5 - 1.5
Toe-In: 1 - 2
Ride Height: 5mm - 5mm
Wheel Base (Wheelnut to Wheelnut) 263 mm
No added Kick-Up/Caster
Camber Link Spacers: 2mm - 2mm
Secondary Front Camber Links Installed - Yes
Front/Center One-Ways - Yes

I use a different method of setting my droop but if you want me to measure using the AE style guages for you I can

Comments: This car is DIALED in the mornings/nights at Gilroy & would probably be even better on a better track (Stockton)

If it gets tail happy I'd say add 1/2 degree of Toe-in.

If you want to run outdoor. Put a set of CS-27's on the rear, Drop to a red sway bar up front and loose the secondary upper camber links
