Both S1 and R1 can be found on here.

Considering getting one of these.

How would the performance of r1 compare with vbc wildfire?

Thx

I am sure that with the correct setup, the two cars will be close, just like any other decent touring car.

The Wildfire parts all fit together very well, both composite and machined. Most parts for the Wildfire are also available at A-Main Hobbies.

In the end, you need to drive and set up each car, and both are more than capable of winning.

RE: Back to the S1:

Haven't even run the car yet; just finished getting the chassis together. Adjusting the rear end (camber), and *snap*...the right rear ball stud snaps off with the threads deep inside the hub carrier. :/ So, now I need to (already) get a new set of rear hub carriers and ball studs (no extras, and the ball is bigger than what I run on my oval pan car).

Are the ball studs in the S1 kit *that* brittle that I should consider replacing them already, before I even get a chance to run it?

Stock set up had my rear end loose so I put 1.1 mm rear sway and laid the rear shocks 1 hole and stood up the front shocks one hole. The handling was better but the springs were too hard for me so I put tamiya white med in front and soft in the rear. The car is fast.

I didn't break mine but had trouble with the ball stud on the same part on my r1.

Regarding the Spec R S1 again; sorry for all the questions (still kinda new to these touring-car things...)

Is there a way to adjust the diff on this car besides moving the four "locators" and tightening/loosening the two belts?

Is there a diff that will go into the front gearbox of this car (not sure yet if I like the spool)?

The front and rear diffs are the same. Buy another and put it up front.

You'll need blades for the driveshafts. Spool doesn't use them.

You tune the diff with the weight of the oil in it. I have 500,000 in there now. Prob need 1,000,000. Some use putty.

Just to make sure, he's talking about the front diff.

You'll use much, much lighter oil in the rear diff.

Yeah, that would be bad.

I use 80 wt shock oil in my rear diff.

I haven't used my S1 that much since I got it before Christmas, but on the occasions that I have ran it, it's winning and handling beautifully. However, spares aren't easy to come by here in the UK, and sometimes, ordering from HK or America isn't viable (incase I need something on Wednesday to arrive to race on Friday for example). I'm currently needing a front belt (stone cut a groove in the backing) and a front spool centre (the plastic has rounded off where the outdrive screw goes in, so it loosens off every run and leaves it 3WD), so what front belts and spools from other cars fit the R1/S1?

Xray belts, spools and gear diffs should fit right in.
