GT,

Thanks for advice. Only thing is that the 2 speed has never been engaged before. I've had it for a few months, but since I haven't been able to master 1 gear, I just left it in 1st.

Still, I will check it out and report back...

Thanks again...

it might sound stupid but answer the following;

Is your car a bit slow of the mark and out of corners?

if so it could be prettywell permanently in 2nd gear...i have known of this to happen before.

Hmmm...

Might be. I thought that it was the engine that I was using (CVR-X-15) was a bit weak at the low end. But yes, reaction time from pressing the trigger to the car starting up is a bit slow.

How can I confirm this, and if this is the problem - how do I fix it?

Thanks again!

screw the grub-screw all the way in effectively locking out second gear then run the car...if thats the case youll know straight away!

Ok. So plan of action is to screw it in all the way & see performance vs. what is happening now.

If there is improvement, it means that I am a dork & that I should unscrew only slightly to tune the 2nd gear.

If not, test the rear section of the arm. I'll take some photos if nothing avails.

Appreciate your help gt!

sausage_link,

Thanks for the lead. But I don't understand what the fix tries to achieve.

Can you explain in a little more detail?

the fix on that website is good and will fix your problem if that is what is causing your problem. (the first problem I described) .

Ive also seen some running so rich they can't wind out to the point of gear change.

Try the grubscrew and see how you go,then inspect the second gear housing and see if the "heel" is worn through.

ok guys. Tested my car with the grub srew srewed all the way in - I don't think that I was running on 2nd.

Didn't have the chance to check out the other problem - will try to do it today if work allows me.

Appreciate your advice!

Default now now

They are pretty reliable normally, mine has been through the original engine plus about 6 months of the Novarossi without failure. The parts are cheap..$22.00 for the complete 2nd gear andthat was to replace one that someone borrowed and never replaced.
I dont know of anything else available to replace it.
