I hear in the wind that a motiv 25.5 spec motor is coming for Vta and new tires. My opinon a spec motor will ruin the class as it did usgt. But new tires would be welcomed.

I'm looking at off-road buggy kits, I like to keep my options open.

I have seen the prototype VTA tires from Gravity RC. I was told the first batch are still in production. I have not heard anything about a spec motor. Jim Dieter from Trinity has told me that almost every 25.5t motor that he has tested are so similar, that making a "spec" motor is pointless. Maybe Rob King can chime in and clear things up.

The crap Protoform tires is already killing / has killed VTA.

I think "has killed" is a little hyperbolic. VTA car counts are strong at the tracks I run. The class would certainly benefit from a tire that works more consistently over it's life. I am sure this debate has been buried long ago. I am excited for the possibility of new life given to the class. Thanks Paul!

I wouldn't say that my statement was any more hyperbolic than the comment I was responding to. I have wittnessed that the crap PF VTA tires having a worse effect on the class than the spec USGT motor has in USGT. If anything I have seen USGT stronger than when it was open motor.

Are VTAs usually traction or steering limited?
