Here's a photo of my updated Smokem T3FX via my crappy phone cam... Has 3 servo positions - original T3, T3-11 and T3-11 with horizontal servo.

I found the exotek a bit stiff for our track. I'll post how the smokem goes once I have it bolted on, the fx deck used to be awesome on my 416

I noticed it the exotek doesnt have any holes cut in it at all. The original xray chassis has a few holes in it for older lipos.
The thing I have noticed is the schumacher is particlularly fast at our track. THe schumacher standard chassis is 2mm thick. The schumacher carpet chassis is 2.5mm
The standard xray chassis is 2.5mm, and the exotek is 2.2mm
There are a number of after market chassis, just trying to figure out which one is the best.

Exotec uses premium quasi weaves carbon, so their chassis' are nice and stiff.

What's a good pinion to start with? I have 17.5 motor stock 84 spur. I got a whole set of hudy pinions. I just don't want to burn motor up. I'm kind of new to on road. I don't know what kind of fdr I'm shooting for. Sorry about newbie questions.

It really depends on a lot of things such as trac type, ESC settings etc. But I think a 6.2 FDR is a goos starting point for outdoor asphalt. I ran a 6.7 this weekend on a small carpet track. Hope tha helps.

start around 5.5. If you're topping out 1/4 into the straight, you're under geared, try a bigger pinion. After a few minutes, check your temps and go from there

Need more info. How big is the track? Boosted or Blinky? What kind of motor?

Its a indoor carpet track with good traction and a few tight spots.

I'm just really looking for a good starting point. I will be running either ballistic 17.5 or tekin 17.5 with a tekin rs esc. What's a good temp to look for to know if I need to go up or down?

Definitely stiffer than stock. It's slightly narrower overall but it's wider near the inboard suspension bridges, the stock chassis is more aggressively shaped in those areas. I'm guessing that plus the weave accounts for why a 2.25mm chassis would be stiffer than a 2.5.

I am running stock 17.5 blinky, FDR of about 4, rollout around 55. Temping the motor at around 60 degrees
Really depends on the motor and how much timing you are running on the endbell
Use gearchart.com to work out your preferrred combination of spur and pinion.
While on this, is there any benefit to using a larger spur and smaller pinion to obtain the same gear ratio? Or vice versa

I usually run 17.5 Boosted, geared around 6.3FDR.

I try to run the biggest spur I can all the time, seems to help make the brakes a bit stronger and more consistent.
