Questions?? TC5R pinion question

Hey guys,

I just picked up a TC5R and decided to step into the VTA class because it looks freaking awesome! My question is I have 48P spur gear and I installed a 31 tooth pinion and it seems really slow. I understand that this is not a high speed class, so am I in the right ballbark with the 31t? I have not checked any temps yet. I would like to know where a good starting point is? Should I chang the spur gear? I have been running short course for a few years so this is all new to me. I cant wait to get it tuned in!!
Thanks

Good starting point with gearing in VTA is a 4.0 fdr. You didn't say how mant teeth on your spur but with a 31 pinion you'd need a pretty small spur gear to hit 4.0. How many teeth on you spur?

Hey Chief, The internal ratio of your TC5 is 2.00 and a good FDR for VTA cars with a 25.5T motor is 4.00. This means that as long as your spur gear has exactly twice the number of teeth as your pinion gear, then you will have a 4.00 FDR. I have 2 friends that are running TC5's in VTA racing and they are using a 45 tooth pinion and a 90 tooth spur. Hope that helps.

I want to say 78 teeth, I will have to double check. Its the gear that came in the kit.

Thanks.

It does help, thank you very much. I may go with 50/100. Is there any other "must do's" I should know about? Thanks!

Not thread appropriate, but do any of my VTA peeps know how to use dreamweaver? My hyperlinks are not coming out right and its probably a simple setting.

Its here that I am having the problem. http://www.battlefieldraceway.com/RoadCourse.html
