Charlie had told me the same thing when I talked to him at iHobby. I am not trying to blame Novak here. But when people have been waiting months because they can't get product, that can be an issue and a barrier to entry. My local track didn't have them in until just recently. Not because they didn't order them, but because there were none to have. I managed to get one to run for this past weekend. However it would have been nice to have another option (at this point I think the only other 21.5 is the Tekin at this point, and it has been available).

I do know of a track that makes an exception on the 21.5 rule. They allow Trinity and Tekin motors in, but the racers all know that if they go to a sanctioned event they had better have a Novak to take with them.

Is there any performance difference between the other motors and the Novak from your observations?

When I put together my USVTA car I was unable to get the Novak thru regular sources so I went with the LRP shown here

Anyone try one of these?

Last race got dominated (I think) by a Novak, but it was only a three car heat. I will let you know after the attendance builds up. I would prefer that they stick to the official rules. I think they caved to the pressure of this shortage thing.

I checked online store supply for the Novak motors once every 2 weeks for the last 3 months, and each time I did, I was able to find at least 2 stores that had them in stock. I find it hard to believe that anyone waited "for months" to get one. I firmly believe that if you couldn't find one, you weren't trying very hard.

Tekin, Trinity, Hacker, LRP, Putnam, Speed Passion, Fantom at least are on the market right now. I would expect more once there is an official approval process.

Oh, and Stormer has 4 Novaks in stock right now.

They are not legal in USVTA racing. I would expect not many people have tried one of those.

The sarcasm and innuendo isn't necessary, appreciated or productive. As I stated, my LHS did not have them and couldn't get them for some time. They finally got some in a week or two ago which is how I finally got one.

There is ZERO sarcasm or innuendo in my comments. I said what I said and I meant it. They were out there to be had if you REALLY wanted one. I know for a fact, because I was out there looking to make sure. I even went so far as to post direct links to online stores that had them, along with their prices right here in this thread only a couple of weeks ago.

My point is, the complaints lack fact.

It is what it is.

Sometimes a dick doesn't know he is being a dick.

Sometimes a dick doesn't care that he is being a dick.

Dicks can be tricky to figure out.
