Marui Hunter. Wanted a Frog just like my neighbor @ the time, but this was just as good as long as you could keep idler gears in it. Will get another for my collection one day. Little hard to find though.

Tamiya Hotshot, around 1984 or 85. Followed quickly by Holiday Buggy, pair of grasshoppers, Hirobo 44b, Mugen Bulldog etc, etc, etc. The bug bit us hard and fast.

The Hotshot was awesome.

Horrible, but awesome.

Ray,

I too have one of these.... still in my pit box, and still functional... such a great unit, just because you could build it yourself. Not sure anyone ever built one for 540 though..... straight to the hi-spec version! I really need to make use of it somewhere..... onroad, though, I think

Oh, and my first car was a Porsche 959, second hand, from ABC Hobbies when they had a branch in Boronia.... buggers sold it to me with no prop shaft, and when I went back to say so, they gave me one from (I think) a Hotshot..... as a noob, no idea.

First new car (built from a kit) was a little after that, a Tamiya VW Golf Racing Master... ran like a cut cat with the Technigold from the 959 in it!!!

I was always either "borrowing" or using shops cars to race off road with the scorchers and scorpions and ayk's. The first "real" off roader that I personaly owned was a Tamiya Sand Rover.

ahhhh - the good old days.

Cheers

Back in 1986 my first R/C was a tamiya falcon that as parts broke or wore out my oldman would build custom parts, love that car wish i still had it as some lowlife stole it.

My first gas car was a mugen athlete which i still have to this day.

Great thread by the way brings back alot of good memory`s.
