This looks like a cool turn to have at the end of a straightaway.

Hey all you SCT 4x4 guys. Did you see the new 550 Ballistics motors by Novak coming out? They look nice and are rebuild-able. They are to be released in May.

Track update...

The dirt screening guy didn't show up this week, so he rescheduled for Monday. If all goes well I should have some of the track done on Tuesday, and finish up the rough in by late Sat or early Sun of next week. I'll let you guys know when it is fit to run on so if anyone wants to get a few laps in late Sunday the 25th they can. I'll be making what changes are needed and should have it open on Tuesday the 27th for normal practice. Stay tuned for more updates. Sorry for the delays but I think it will be worth the wait.

Kevin

I recall from the SCT forum about a month ago Novak said these were going to replace the HV 4.5 series that everyone is running now in the SCT's.

This is from the Novak Rep today on the Jammin SCT forum: "The new Ballistic 550s have the same performance characteristics and specs as our earlier HV motors. However, the new 550s are completely re buildable and feature adjustable timing. We will be selling 3 separate motors and offering replacement wound stators for 2-3 other winds.

As to ROAR approval, neither our HVs nor the new Ballistic 550s have been submitted (or will be submitted) for 1:8 scale racing approval. ROAR's provisional rules for SC racing currently exclude all but 540 size motors in ROAR-sanctioned events."

Looks like I will be holding off buying a 4.5 hv, and maybe wait for one of these

Price is $120 for these and $99 for the HV and the only diff is the rebuildable capability. I have not seen many people rebuilding their brushless motors because they are already pretty much bullet proof.
