Just got my 17.5 and 13,5 R1 Wurks v16 from Rotor Ron, the dyno numbers looks much better than my V2t team works plus. For those who got their motors tuned from Rotor Ron, are you finding the setting spot on or are you tweaking the timing at all?

There are two 6000mah batteries on the R1 site. An LCG battery and a regular one... Does the regular one have much better IR? Or are they about the same?

what kind of gearing / timing for a v16 21.5 in f1 ? and would it be better to use the 1700 rotor?

I would personally stay from 12.5 high torque and stick with the stock 12.5 because the cars are so light. When we used to run 21.5 F1 and I had a problem with the inside tire getting loose with all the power. If u r using a fenix gear diff you might be able to get away with a 12.5HT but start with the stock rotor first . Car will be stupid fast with a 21.5

Default R1 wurks v16

Hello, if anyone is interested, I have a brand new r1 v16 motor I just bought from rotor Ron. Never run. Only soldered in my car, and then my club went to a spec motor. It’s a 17.5 and will come with all the rotor Ron paper work. Paid $119 but willing to discount it a bit as I have no use for it. Let me know, thanks guys

Hi did you have a starting point for gearing?
Our rules f1 is 21.5 just wanting to try and run it for fun hoping to find a ball park starting point for gearing

FDR 2.90 with timing near 40 on endbell. If temps are fine you can start going up on timing to 50 deg and/or lowering your FDR. Always keep run times short after large timing or large gear changes

I've tried 3.8 to 4.6 fdr's in .2 increments from 30 to 55 timing. Lot's of track time. These all seem to be good

3.8fdr - 45 tmng
4.0fdr - 47 tmng
4.2fdr - 50 tmng
4.3fdr - 52 tmng

Motor may run a little hot, but with all my testing when the motor ran about 165-170 is when I hit hot laps and best avgs. I measure temp from the top of the motor about 30 sec after being on the track for 320-340 sec. Track size is 96x42 feet CRC Black carpet. Using a R1 fan mount with WTF fan connected to receiver and ORCA VX3 ESC.

If you run on a smaller or larger track you can adjust FDR and timing. I also raced at a small track (60x40) in Fort Collins Wed night. My best laps times where with a 4.6 fdr and 47 timing. Longest straight section was about 45ft. I did this to get up to speed as fast as possible. Cut several tenths off my avg from running gearing for a larger track.

I've really tried to make the Dyno results posted by Jorge work but the car never felt fast on the track when in the 25 to 35 timing range regardless of gearing. The main reasons i think is because of the torque loss due to the large FDR.

I found that my timing and rollout best performance also coincides with about 160-170 degree temps and that was on a 1/12 Setup around 3.2 amp draw and 93 rollout on a 40x75 track. No fade either.
