Wouldn't the easiest thing to do be to just spec a resistance and let them get that number any way they wanted to? Long stator/big wire, short stator/small wire, whatever. 17.5 turns of anything as long as it meets the required resistance.

Your opinion is better stated by your absence.
Meanwhile record numbers of tracks are shutting down, and indoor onroad is just a shell of it's former glory. Yeah, absence seems to be working. At least tracks are motivated to change now.

Hopefully CanAm ruled tracks continue to grow in number.

I am a believer in the Monster Max line and this 17.5 issue is not changing anything. I do my best to go as fast as I can. Do I spend more than I want at times, maybe so. Right now the Monster Max is killing it in 17.5 & 21.5. My driving is not the best, but I make sure I have the best equipment and in good condition. I truly believe that without Trinity HP I would be finishing 4-5 places lower. The smart people sold their 17.5's 2 months ago when they heard this was coming.

It's particularly appalling when the punishment was voluntary, and only after they released a new motor. This just encourages more upgrades.

It might be a good idea to run a Can Am Max class with all those 17.5 maxx motors out there instead of buying new trinity motors to participate in the Can Am series. I am sure that all the stuck racers would gladly sell their max motors to the can am crew and get something back for their pain.....

Canadian Onroad Nationals with over 500 entries/50 heats disagrees with this post.

And almost completely negates banning it in the first place. The new motor should be faster or at least better some way....so the old banned motor is slower? Who cares about banning something thats out paced?

New is not always faster. The motor right after the D3.5 was no where near as fast (Trinity Killshot).

Doesn't mean a thing. What is the average age there?

All the big races and club races I've seen has been filled with older people in onroad. They have more discretionary income to travel and attend these big races. Hardly anything in the pipeline to keep onroad growing here. (different in Asia/parts of Europe)

When trinity was outright banned from CanAm, right or wrong, I could hear cheering echoing from within 20 miles of every track in the area. I wonder if off road will follow suit?

CamAm is ORCA, Team Scream, Scorpion, and Team Powers only.

Classes

Not sure how much I'll like CanAm, because I think I did ok tuning motors. But using a 21.5 motor, and removing timing and gear, until it's the same speed as a maxed out 25.5 in F1, means the motor runs nice and cool. Cooler running, cheaper motors, with more bottom end grunt, and the same speeds as the fastest stock motors of the past........seems like a win win.

Except for trinity. [crocodile tears]

I have no intention of going to canada. Too weird for me.

Just to clarify Trinity wasnt "banned" by CanAm. They chose not to participate in it. It was open for ANY manufacture that wanted to be a part of it. Only those you listed were willing to participate the first year of CanAm. Others told CanAm "NO".
