Oh yeah,

This is a question for all you BMI users. How many of you file/sand down and CA the edges of your chassis? How necessary is it to do this? Please just give some general on doing it.

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin:

Hi,

I just take some 400 grit wet/dry and lightly sand the chassis and CA the edges.

Thanks

Tim,

If you are using the Wet/Dry sand paper, do you actually do it wet...or dry? And what do you use to apply the CA? I'm just seeing what other people do.

Thanks,
Kevin

Wet/dry: I seen pictures of people Doing them under running water. I Like to do it dry because thats what im used to.

You use a Q-Tip to apply Ca glue to the chassis.

Hi,

I will do it under running water mostly to keep and Graphite dust down.
I also apply the CA with a Qtip. I use fast setting CA also.

Thanks

Default Mod Foam Setup

Well, time to dig out the BMI TC3 for the first time all summer. I've never raced electric mod on-road. Anyone like to share their setup. I sure could use a good starting place.

Thanks,
John

I understand that graphite dust is a health hazard. Do it under running water. And never rub near your eyes while working with graphite.

Well, not quite deadly... The below is from an MSDS for graphite dust.

Work and hygiene practices: Avoid getting dust in your eyes. Avoid blowing dust with compressed air. Avoid prolonged or repeated breathing of dust. Avoid open flame and contact with oxidizing agents. Use proper personal protection.

that is very true.i even flood c/f when i cut it.you want to keep the dust down when doing your prep on the chassis.always use like a bucket of water or something of the sort.

So Jason, are you saying that it is okay to immerse the c/f in water when prepping? It won't "delaminate"? I don't want to breath in the graphite dust too when sanding. I heard that it will stay in your lungs and cause respiratory problems.

Hey guys,

I wanted to post this for anyone, to get some feedback on BMI products, and especially their quality. Just read:

Well....I'll have to take my words back. Just took the BMI chassis off the car to compare with the new Xray chassis. The BMI chassis is actually stiffer than the Xray 3.5mm (both are brand new)

Jason at BMI did a pretty amazing job there!!

In terms of weight....

The BMI is 96g
The Xray 114g

So get those orders into BMI NOW!!!!!!

Just so you know, this was recently posted on the Xray T1 thread.

forty6,
yes you can fully submerge the chassis in water.it does not delaminate or effect the material in any way.and it keeps the dust down

thanks kevin,i appreciate the support
