Fire: Your local stores or tracks can order our packs through one of our US distributors such as Horizon. You can also mailorder them from Stormer Hobbies or Speedworld Raceway.

Were working on trying to get a distribution network setup in Canada. Hopefully it will then be easier to get our products.

Default TURBO 30

Hi Dan,

I just got myself two turbo 30s second hand. Reading the manual, it says that the turbo 30 will stop charging once it has put in 3000mah into the batts. Since my SMC HV's take in about 3100mah charging on my pitbull charger, is this going to be a problem?

Also, the charger does not want to cycle my packs because after charging the volts are still above 9v even after 120 sec.s. How do you get around this? As you know, the turbo thiry only gives internal rsistance measures after cycling and not during discharging. It's ashame if I cannot access this feature.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Rgds, Juan

You might want to email CE and tell them your problem on the discharge. I believe they have a revised eprom that will fix this.

You can try setting it for a 7 cell discharge and putting the cutoff at 5.4 . This will fix your problem.

You should ask them about the 3000 mAh charge. As far as I know it I believe T-30's charge 3000's without shutting off.

Hey there Danny.

I had problems cycling my 3000hv as well. What would happen in a cycle was i would get a error "VOLTS TOO HIGH" at the end of the charge before going into discharge. So i could not cycle them..

I tried the 7cell mode approch with the 5.4v cut off. It works but your limited to a 25 amp discharge..

I called Jim at CE and he is sending me a new eprom. My software version is 5.3 he is sending me 5.7 so this should correct any cycling problems i have.

Default Yo DAN!

Thanks a lot for your help. I am now able to cycle with the discharge set at 7C. I actually got a measurement of 132 relative internal resistance. Is that 22 per cell? VIVA SMC HVs! ! ! ! ! ! !

Yo Joel Lagace!

Are you also using a Turbo 30 or a 35? Coz, I got the 30 and I wanted to know if I could get the upgrade for it. Are you getting the EPROM for free? If not, how much? thanks for your comments too!

I have a Turbo35(no backlight) They are sending it to me free. As per there website they say they dont charge to upgrade the eprom..

I would call with your software version number and your problem. They should be able to help you out. They have been very good with me over the phone..

Default Yo Joel Lagace!

I wrote them a letter and faxed it. Its hard for me to calL as I am based in Manila, Philippines, in ASIA, where day is night and night is day.

If ever you do get to talk to them, please try and ask them if i can upgrade the turbo 30.

Thanks for you help.

Default rematching

I am rematching some SMH on my Turbomatcher 4, and I'm getting some funny readings. Is there a different way to cycle the SMH? It works fine on my 2400s and 2000s. What I'm getting are really low avg volt. numbers like 1.098 at 30 amps when the numbers on the labels are 1.13s at 30 amps.
thanks

mellonhead: Here is the setup I use to match SMH's. 5 amp charge with .02 peak detection with the NiMH setup.

NiMH cells tend deteriorate faster than nicads so I would say the numbers your seeing are what they are.

Danny, how often do you put the sanyo hv's on a tray? also, do you store them discharged or otherwise?

Here is what I do after a race or run with my packs. Bring them down at 30 amps to 5.4 or 3.6 depending if it's a 6 or 4 cell pack. After that I will put them in a tray until I have another pack to put in the tray. The last pack I use I will normally remove it when I get home.
