Battery Cooling
Hi Korgae! Is it okay to put batteries (GP 3300s) in a cooler or ref after a run so as to let them cool faster or will it hurt the cells? Maybe I could get away with letting the batts cool for 30-45 minutes instead of 1 1/2-2 hours between charges.

Hi Jedi,
We would recomend that you didn't "force cool them" it can hurt your packs over time. The best is to let it cool on its own after you have dishcharged it.

Korgae and Danny,
Just purchased three of your best packs from Elite in West Covina. I'll build them for this weekend and see how it goes. I purchased them for two reasons; first, I wanted to compare them to my Integy packs, which have always given me great results and second, the results of a recent oval race in R/C Car Action magazine with SMC finishing in top spots all over the board. I don't think that you guys could have sponsored all of those 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners! And I guess there is a third reason after all, I can't stop hearing enough good things about your company.
I'll post some results after this or next weekend.
Just one question: Do I need to cycle the packs before I see peak results?
Thanks,
Klear Knight

Hi klear knight,
thanks for trying our packs out
no need to cycle before use. Just charge how we recomend ( available on our website) and you should be more then pleased.
Korgae.

I sent you a similar PM, can you please respond, i am looking at getting some packs very shortly.

Hi Korgae,
I was curious about the testing you are doing with your GP3300's
on a discharge tray. How often are you doing this?
What is the discharge current and the cutoff voltage on the tray that you are using? The Integy trays have several different models that discharge from 1.5 amp up to 5 ams. I noticed the newest 5A model also has 3 selectable cutoff voltages.
I have only been doing the 30amp discharge of my packs after each run on my Turbo 35. Been thinking of equalizing cells just before charging.
Thanks,
Barry

Hi Mab_Man20 & Besercrow
The GP 3306P - is slightly lower then our 3306S. I can't give you exact #'s but in General the voltage (as of now, this could change) is around 1.15+ (this cango up towards 1.16+) IR would be around 3 and runtime would be aroud 400+ seconds.
Our 3306S is the best of our batchs. Voltage is around 1.17+ with Ir's in the mid 2's with Runtime in the 400's.
Im sorry this is kinda vague, but it is extremely hard for me to quote exact #'s.
Hi Barry,
Danny has been testing with the full line up of the indy trays, ( I think their is 4 in total that he is trying out) his orginal testing was done with the Tinity Realtime 2 ( fan cut out) which is on the lower amperage level.
Testing hasnt concluded yet, so I cant give info out on this subject. right now if you want to use this "tray" method, use the trintiy tray.
Hope this helps,
Korgae

Korgae: you recommend not force cooling(using fans or other means[how about heatsinks?]) our cells after discharging, does that applies to all types of cells?
How about when charging them, should we use a fan or something to direct more airflow over the cells or just charge them as they r, 'cos they tend to get quite hot as they r about to peak.
Your replies will be much appreciated, thx.

Hi Kino,
Thanks for the question. Im glad you asked because becuase I think its important to know the answer to this one.. Our testing has shown a decrease in performance when a fan is used for charge or dishcharge.
No fans or heatsinks during charge or dishcharge.

that's interesting to note... we always thought that a fan during charging increases the mah's that go in... what performance would you say deteriorates? run time? punch?
also another question of mine is, after letting the packs cool naturally, for about 1.5 hours or so, is it ok to charge them again for play or should i give my packs more time to "rest" before charging them for use?
how many cycles or uses or races, would you say a match pack is good for?
when storing a pack for a long time, (months...) whats the best way to keep them? partially charged, fully charged?
thanks in advance....
