My EVO3 is at about 1510g currently using CS27 or Sorex28 and leightweight JB inserts. This is including the Square gearboxes and Jürgen oneway and a motor fan. Batteries are GP3300. It´s basically a stock EVO3 not a SL but upper aluminium mounts and everything similar SL but the 2,5mm chassis.
Weight savings are removing the centre brace as the chassis is very stiff using the Square aluminium gearboxes. Also I´m using Lunsford Ti turnbuckles and some of the screws are replaced by Square Ti screws.
Square aluminium gearbox is about 14g heavier than plastic gearbox so 28g for both.

Otherwise I would recommand R10. Sometimes I´m ordering from them especially when I need some special parts. Very good service.

I think not very much people are using Kai chassis. Looks ugly to me and it´s way too expensive. Something like the Square gearboxes makes much more sense and looks great also.
There is room for speculations always but I have to say I don´t care if Tamiya is using a 415 or any prototyp at the worlds. It´s the same hype with the 415 as it was with the EVO3 in the beginning.
I don´t like the 415 even if it looks good. I think it´s a pain to work on if you have to rebuild the rear diff or just wanna change the front oneway for a diff. Also I don´t like those excenters for belt tensioning. I had one car in the past exactly build like the 415 in the gearbox area. Never ever.
The EVO3 is working very good now without problems. Very easy to work on also. Why change for any other car now?

V12 , i like the way you think, i share the same thoughts bout the car and so on.
I brought a Kai from a close friend for about £35 so it was an offer i couldnt really refuse...
i might not even end up useing it, or i may try and build up another evo-KAI out of spare bits for show or something. who knows.!
ill have my square boxs verrrrrrrrrry soon cant wait!! and also the 3 piece prop shaft.
Had no probs with the evo3 for a long time, things just seem to get better and better for me with it.
Are there any ways to increase steering throw as i get to a point were the turnbuckles touches the prop shaft. turning your kunckles over or anythign like that?
thanks

You will be amazed by the Square boxes. Best custom part I ever saw. Beside the jürgen oneway.
Why are you using that much steering throw? Usually I´m using 50 - 70 % steering throw. Sometimes up to 85% on a small track but never any more. There are other ways for moore steering.

well its the track i race on mainly, its got a chicane an hairpins and i was compareing my turning circle to my tc3 driving friend , his was quite alot smaller and i was wondering if i could get more steering to make mine smaller you see.

EVO look at a different servo saver if you are using one or a longer arm on the servo if not. Either way you still should not need that much throw you are getting way outside any tires performance range with that much throw. Also if you are using a digital or comp. radio check your endpoints not just dual rate.

yeah ok at least im not doing anything i was thinking maybe i made a mistake and wasnt getting enough somewhere. im useing a kimbrough mid sized servo saver

FYI- I've got the Tech 3 piece shaft set, and it's very heavy compared to the one piece shaft.
I just got the Titanium axels and dogbones. Should lessen the weight a bit.
