A total tooth count of 75 / 76 is very good and should be enough for a 21.5t motor (2.36fdr highest gearing)... If you start grinding posts, I reckon you will be able to go under 2.0fdr...

With the smallest spur gear(35t) and biggest 48p 47t pinion gear you get 2.01fdr....

Yes, that will put the rollout really high. Over 4 inches. That's a lot of work for the motor to do. The sweet spot on my Novaks is usually around 2.8" to 3.0" rollout. If I go higher on rollout, lower on FDR and I get no punch and it takes a really long time to get to the top end. Too low on rollout, high on FDR, the motor spins too high too soon and I get too much wheel spin when I accelerate.

I can't think of a 21.5 that wouldn't fry if you tried to go over 4" for 8 minutes with a 2S.
Internal gear ration * (spur/pinion) = Final Drive Ratio
Too low, the motor spins too fast, too low and no punch.

Don't forget the 45t and 47t pinions... I only wanted to show that the car can gear 21.5t motors until they blow to those who were saying it would be an issue...you just have to build it with the 35t spur in the beginning...

I'm not sure I'd want to modify the motor mount and other support structures that much to run a pinion that size. The spur pack is only $4.50 @ RCMart and they have them in stock. I've waited this long for the car to come out, I can wait a couple more days to do mine right. TQ isn't shipping mine until Wednesday and I'm waiting on their response to see if they will have them in stock in time to come with my order. My advice would be to run a silver can until you can get the right spur and pinion. I'm still hoping that eventually an adapter that will allow .64 pitch spurs to be used will be created.

No need to go any lower for FDR unless you're going Velodrome racing. The only way you're going any lower in FDR with the gears available is to get them to make a smaller spur. And then I ask why would you want an FDR that low?

The FGX that texasTC was driving is my car. I was having trouble logging in to RC tech.
I ordered the car w/super soft rear tires and soft front tires and the rear is just locked to the carpet. I can bareley get the rear to step out even when flying into a corner and hitting full brakes. I want to get the car to slide the rear a little with hard accelleration but with my current set up this is not possible. I am waiting for TQ to stock some parts so I can order more wheels and different tire combos.
Also, I broke a front king pin right at the e-clip groove under the spindle. I adapted some 12th scale king pins to work by drilling the pivot balls and spindles up to 1/8". Later I broke the trailing part of the upper wishbone but rapired it with a small carbon fiber rod/CA splint. After 10 runs the car is still going strong with no further repairs needed. You must avoid the boards with this car!
The pinion I am using is 33 tooth with a ballistic 21.5, endbell timing at +45. The motor is at the end of its adjustment, barely enough room to set proper gear mesh. Definitely could gear up, after running for 15 minutes the motor barely got up to 150 with hard braking every corner to get it to steer. Even with this gearing the speed was very close to the direct drive F1's that where practicing. The little it gave up on the straight was more than made up for in the infield thanks to the huge amount of forward grip this car has.
Also looking forward to the optional rear toe blocks. The kit only comes with 2 and 3 degree. I am running 2 but want to try less to help free the rear up.
So far I am very happy with this car and it gets better with every change I have made.
