I still have not got an answer if everyone is using a balancer or not. Or does balancing get done rarely.

Thanks!

you can use the adapter came with the charger ,you can modify for banana plug lipo set up...

cars with lower top decks like xray and trf416 only just allow enough room for the battery to fit, and this is tougher even if you use a weight plate below the batt.... sorry if this has been asked before, but are there any plans to produce a slimmer pack to allow more clearance? is the new carbon case slimmer?
thnx

The 4000 pack is plenty thin and even with a PPD plate it fits with no problem at all. I even have a lead plate from Team Fusion sandwiched between my pack and my PPD plate and it fits fine. I juts bought 2 carbon case packs that they are the same thickness as the red cases...20.5mm.

Here is a very good write up on the 416 and fitting a Lipo the size of the 4000 SMC into it.

I run the 4000 pack in my Xray 2008 with the PPD lower tray and it fits excellent.

Ps...

I got the new 5000 top wire red/black case battery and the Hyperion EH adatper does not work at all, thanks for the wrong info Still Bill. The balancer seems to be changed from the older pack.

What balancer adapter would I need for the Hyperion Duo Charger ?

Default Balancer question

I am planning to buy a balancer adapter for an SMC 5000 hard case pack. Is the SMC 5000 (new one with wires coming out on top) a 2S, 3s? I also own the new 4900 saddle, is it also 2s, 3s? I need to buy enough adapters for both packs unless they use the same type

I want to balance and charge at the same time. I currently have the Checkpoint balancer but I need an adapter (I read that the Checkpoint balancer is the same as the Great Planes Equinox). I located a Great Planes Elecrtify Equinox adapter GPMM3161 . Will I be able to charge and balance using this? If not and I use it just for balancing, how will I know that the cells are balanced? I know it's not necessary to balance all the time.

OR

Will I need the Great Planes ElectriFly Equinox GPMM3163 instead? The description reads that it is a high power adapter set and it comes with a deans adapter for charging. Does this have the Align-style plug?

Are there any other balancers, SMC adapters for the Checkpoint-style balancer or an all-in-one charger that can handle all forms of balancing plugs incl. Orion-style bullet balancing (still own some of those too)?

Thanks!

Off topic but it seems to be the best place to ask. Do you have any 1/18th scale LIPO saddle packs?

Oh, and in the instructions, it did call out that if you create your own charge leads that they need to be a minimum of 14g and no longer then 8". So there must be a voltage drop concern.

Brian
I bought a Hyperion ~ jst-xh adapter from here (its a UK site but I'm sure you can get it abroad). It works with my RED HARDCASE 5000 MaH LiPo from SMC. I also made my own charge leads by buying some 12 gauge wire, Deans, and 4mm banana plugs.

So i have had my 4000SMC since the spring, have used it in my buggy and now my sedan... My history with this pack has been to charge at 8amps and repeak repeak repeak.........

So i grabbed a Equinox balancer last nite. First time i had ever used a balancer...... Within 10seconds my pack was balanced!!!

So looks like SMC makes the perfect 2cell matched LIPO packs!!!
