Sorry for the noob-questions. I have no experience on 1/12, only on 1/10.
I have both a Tekin RS and an Rs Pro
Can one or both of these ESC's be used in a 1/12-car?
Can they run on a 3.7V lipo (or does it/they need a voltage-booster)?

if no need for a booster, will it or they provide 6V for the receiver and servo?
thx!!

You can run either in 1/12 scale, but you will need either a Rx pack of voltage booster, since the ESC can't boost the voltage to the servo/transponder. Just plug the Rx pack or booster into your Rx. If you want to use the LiPo cutoff, leave the ESC switch on. If not, leave it off.

I use a switch inline with the Rx pack + lead to the receiver to make/break the circuit so that the LiPo Rx pack can be shut off.

If you are going to use an RX pack, make sure you are not using 2s lipo(8.4v) strait to the RX. You will damage your ESC.

Here are the approved methods if I remember right.

1. Booster
2. Regulated Voltage
3. 2s LiFe RX pack
4. in line switch mod

Team Tekin wins 17.5 at the 10th annual Speedworld Cup in Roseville. The RS/Redline combo was the hot ticket. Had an awesome time and fun with my fellow racers bench racing in the pits. Tekin will be taking the show on the raod to Ripon RC Speedway next weekend. If you're in the area come out and rub some lexan with us.

Great speedo for 1s 12th. I use the Novak smart boost with the lipo protection removed.( simple snip the thing off of the pcb) it also has an in built switch. I know there has been issues with the lipo protection on it but once it has been removed it is great. Tekin is the way to go for 12th though mate.
Just in the process of selling the hobbywings to get another RS much better as rpms can be limited.
iPhone app would be amazing though.

What exactly is to be simply snipped off to remove the lipo protection? Please share

From what i understand , if you use a booster then you turn the speedo off then the lipo cut off doesnt work

you just use the booster switch as the main switch for the car

I have used my RS in my new Corally with the Corally Vboost and it works perfectly and no Lipo cut off\

I think it isn't a good idea opening speedos and cutting things out of it !!!

Not something i will be doing

we're talking about cutting the LVC out of the Novak Smart boost, not the Tekin RS.

hey guys I have read thru a few pages but havent came across this as yet.

I have a futaba 2.4ghz stick radio with a 603ff rx running with a tekin rs and a simple johnson 540 silver can. I am teaching a new guy about learning how to gear a engine and driving style as the engine is very forgiving for treating it like shit and still working but heres my problem,

I have the hotwire and updated the firmware to vegas 208 set the transmitter trims and sub trims all to zero and 100% where they need to be. Cal'ed the tx to the speedo and the speedo is getting full brake signal and full throttle signal but heres the catch. I have full throttle but the engine is not getting full brake even tho the lights on the speedo is telling me it is by scaling down and then flashing all the lights to say yes I have full brake.

I went to the hotwire and set everything up by having 100% brake strength no push control and a custom throttle profile. and still the same thing.
But if I move the brake strength to 0% I notice the engine doesnt even think of wanting to try and slow down but put it back to 100% and you can here the engine wanting to slow down but no where near strong enough to stop the car.

Can anyone point me in some direction please.
Cheers
Ian
