I went from a 008 to the Photon. TQ and win today and the only car with 37 laps. Not too bad. I'm not saying that buying a Photon is going to put you at the top of the A-main, but it definitely won't hold you back. It's a very solid car and very capable.

I also made the switch from an XRAY. One of the best moves Ive ever made. The Photon is the business when it comes to getting what you want from set-up changes. Plus its waaayyy better value when its time to pick up replacement parts. The average consumer paying full price (hobby store prices) are buying their T.O.P. parts for less than the "B-team" or "50%" XRAY guys are paying for the comparable parts.

I switched from Xray T2'007 to The TOP Scythe and from that to the Photon.
Last year I started the races with the scythe and my fastest laps were in the first race.
After that I became slower and slower with the car.
The last race I borrowed a Photon from a club member.
I tested a few days before the race and in the beginning I was just a bit faster but not as fast as the first race. I changed a bit on the setup and I now now that it wasn't that good of an setup but I drove as fast as the first race and I made more faster laps than the first race.
I was also 0,3sec away from a 25 lap. This was 3/4 of a lap faster than I was in the first race.
The Photon drove easy and it is fast.
I was faster with my scythe than I ever was with my Xray or Hot bodies.
I started to drive TOP for the price of the spares but now I stay with TOP also because of how it drives.
The Photon can compete with the Xray's and the TRF416's.

I too went from 008 to Photon, haven't lost a race yet
Car is dialed, durable, and parts are cheap!
Best move I've made in 17 years of racing!

I really like the LTC-R. The R9 has alot of steering. The Mazda has less and the stratus has even less. The LTC fits right between the R9 and Mazda.

There are support groups for you when you decide to leave Xray. Or.... You could just join us on here and talk about how great your decision was. . You'll also need a finacial planner to help you with the money you're going to save.

If you are running carpet, Id say ditch the R9. I do really like the R9 (revised version only) for asphalt. However, on the rug the R9 feels like its driving on the nose all the time. Its not that it provides more steering than a Mazda Speed 6, it just did not feel balanced to me.

I love the R9-R but the LTC-R is also a great body. A bit more stable than the R9. The mazda speed 6 that I use now it stable but it has not that much steer.
LTC-R and the R9 are the body's for me.

I'm loving the durability of my Parma M-type.
