I saw that they have before and after mods done to the aerodynamics... but they don't say what the number was before and what the number was after so we know the difference.. (at least not that I can see/read)

I see your point: it's the wings! I guess when I said "body" I meant then entire package; front and rear wings and bodyshell. I'll probably try modern and older wings the next time I race my F1 car to see if I can notice the difference.

The base line readings are printed on the photo that shows the car on the table. You would use those numbers against the numbers next to the picture of the part being changed/substituded. As an example, the F104 pictured in my post has the baseline numbers:

BASE LINE
Center Wind Pressure 52.0
Total Drag: 101.3
Total Downforce 83.3
Front Downforce 40.0
Rear Downforce 43.3

CHANGE
On the next page they show the rear wing on the body (not the rear wing itself) being trimmed out. The result is:

Center Wind Pressure 55.1
Total Drag: 98.3
Total Downforce 79.8
Front Downforce 35.8
Rear Downforce 44.0

AFFECT
Total difference by changing that one thing is:
---------------------------B/L----------Change------------Results
Center Wind Pressure--------52------------55.1----------3.1----- 6.0%
Total Drag------------------101.3---------98.3----------(-3)----(-3.0%)
Total Downforce------------83.3----------79.8----------(-3.5)--(-4.2%)
Front Downforce------------40------------35.8----------(-4.2)--(-10.5%)
Rear Downforce-------------43.3----------44------------0.7-----1.6%

I buy it every month I can, and yet can't read a lick... still waiting for the RCX coverage and the recent MJGTC coverage (I should be in both...LOL)

Drag is not as critical with these cars, unless you are running on an oval for top speed. Drag is more a measure of efficiency than anything else, if you are going for max efficiency then you need to worry about drag, otherwise downforce is king

which old wing i can buy??, im starting with f1 and i dont know which one i can buy, because has from tech racing, Zen, Type A, Type B, Type M i dont know what exactly means

just sharing... compared the new Tamiya F104 with my Cross CF01'08...

the Cross has a shorter wheelbase... might be better for the shorter more technical tracks
since the cross uses the F103 wheelsets, it also has a wider stance...

I have one and like it. They should be or sale either the end of this month of the begining of next. The pictures on the D-Drive blog are a little different than the production version. The production version has a bigger cock pit to allow different bodies.

There is a nice 2 page feature in the RC World that has all of the downforce information. I can scan it later.

I'm SOOOO getting one of those D-Drive chassis. They look awesome. Does anyone know how well they perform? Also, I noticed the ad shows it with an FW14 front wing, will this work with bodies from the F102 erra? Any comments welcome.

The Cross late type Williams body(FW14) fits,but the late type Ferrari body is to narrow in the nose for the chassis. I have the Tamiya FW18 body and D-Drive High nose body for mine.Im also using a FW18 front wing. The FW18 is just about the perfect width in the nose for the chassis.
Performace wise it is very stiff as the bolts for the servo mount go are anchored in the upper part of the chassis along with the front suspension rear bolt. The four rear bolts run from the bottom half through the battery mount to the upper half. It is also a carbon plastic chassis. I havent cracked mine and i have been running it hard for about three months. Mine is the first version with the small cockpit.
I can take pictures of it later today if you like.
They also have another chassis coming out the is also carbon plastic but it is a more traditional two deck type.
