Kyosho VoneR Thread
I got 3R but can't run coz brake pully out. now i'm use mtx3. mtx3 is nice car, good performance buttttttttttttttttttttt always got problem with 2nd speed. i already used mtx3 in 2 race, each race got same problem. dun know how to solved. i'm already ask to professional driver, they said try using new 2nd speed for every race. wowwwwww, every race i must spend RM100.00 for 2nd speed. tension. i'm still waiting my option brake pulley for 3r n i will sell my mtx3.
I m temted to get the 3racing one piece engine mount for the RRR. Anybody here has tried one? Will it fit Nova Engine?

What happens is that without sufficient gap between the shoes, the adaptor over rotates and immediately strips the grub screw threads.
Here's the fix as told to me by one of the local fast guys (rjl).
Using some new shoes (don't even bother with the old ones), tap the grub screw holes nearly all the way through so that there is a proper thread formed.
Install the grub screws and set the gap between the shoes to approx. 0.5mm each side.
Lightly lubricate the 3mm balls where they sit on the adaptor.
Use a little CA to lock the grub screws in position and don't touch them again.
Install the adjusting cap screws, springs etc. and adjust for proper engagement of 2nd. gear at the track.
We haven't had a problem since adopting this method. Good luck.

3R 1st pinion
How do you guys tighten the first pinion gear onto the bell? I have Kyosho 0.8 pinion tightener but its way too big for the 3R 1st gear.
D, try using a rubber dishwashing glove to hold the end bell and a rag to turn the gear.
If you want an inexpensive tool to put-on or take-off gears, try HPI's pinion tool set. It's only $8 and universal for all centax type clutches.

Did any of you guys noticed that the pinion gears wears down quite fast or is it just me??????Is there any other makes for the pinion gear that can be used?
Mugen pinions along with the required clutch bell. They still wear but at least better than the Kyosho ones.

Can anyone tell me if the Kfactory G4 ball diff fit the 3R?
You only need to hand tighten the pinion gears. The direction of engine rotation will tighten the gears. You should only worry about taking off. For that there is the Mugen pinion removal tool. About $30
Everyone here should switch to the FW-05R

Advice needed
WHy is it a few people who races 1/10 touring cars seldom uses OS engines like the OS TR. What they usually fit in a Serpent710, R40 or an MTX-3 is a Novarossi, Sirio or an RB engine. Is the OS TR engine really outperformed by its Italian counterpart in all aspects? or is it just they prefer newly released engines? Im currently trying to bring life to a Kyoho V1RR and an OS TR engine to power it. With this, will my car be able to give a fight with the big guys in terms of speed and handling? Of course driving skills is a different story.. thanks...........
OS engines are easy to tune and pretty consistent. However, I choose other engines for the additional power and the difference seen/felt going through the power bands.
OS engines are good engines to learn with and race novice to sportsman classes.

If u just race the car in regular club races, focus on car maintainence, tire choice, chassis setup and driving fast without hitting. OS or Nova Rossi will do just as well. When you race at the professional league such as national event or world event, engine choice becomes a very important factor.
I have seen an offroad champion driving a RTR NTC3 and beat all those NTC3 and 710 with Nova Rossi engines in a medium size track. He used the stock engine that came with the RTR kit, and tuned the engine to deliver maximum performance.
