how to find the FDR spur gear divide by pinion x 2.05 internal gear = FDR
If you have the perfect or good silver can , yes ,it is enough be competitive against 21.5 at the med size track ...25.5 motor no problem for silver can keep up...
The 4.9 FDR is a good start in most cases...it best to get the cooling fan so it can keep the motor from getting too hot...

Just curious about where the 2.05 comes from? Is that just for the TA05vII?

Just started to try and calculate some FDR's. (this set of results being 3.8 for 17.5)
At first I forgot to multiply by 2.05 and was getting results such as 96/25, 80/21, 76/20..
But once I remembered to start multiplying I got: 48/26, 45/24, 41/22 ...
I really don't know where to start from or if a larger spur gear is better than smaller.. Do any of these results sound like a good starting point?
I noticed when you lower 1 tooth on the pinion the FDR raises and when you gain a pinion tooth the FDR lowers. And opposite for spur gear teeth.
Does this mean lower FDR means faster and hotter temps?

large spur gear are better than smaller..
think of the car steering wheel..the bigger steering wheel are easy to turn than the smaller steering wheel
the lower FDR will make the motor work harder...it like gear shift in the car started in second gear instead of first gear

what is the biggest 64p spur gear that will fit the ta05 ver 2 with out any modifications

I have run an 81T 48P but it sticks through the bottom of the chassis about 3mm. I haven't hit it on anything but I don't race outside. 81T 48P is equivalent to 108T 64P. I ordered a 73T 48P gear that I plan to switch to [I've gone back to the stock spur until it comes in] which is roughly a 97T in 64P.
So I'd say a 64P 108T spur is probably the largest you want to use for indoor racing on smooth surfaces but there is some risk since the spur sticks below the chassis.
If you have access to several 64P spurs around 96T to 98T, I suggest using the one fits without any part of the spur sticking below the chassis. If you are OK with the spur sticking below the chassis, then 108T fits. If you go much larger than 108T, it may rub on the aluminum mount or drag on the ground when the chassis rolls.

Hi thanks for the info, I have still not got my car its in transit, I am going to run it in 17.5 boosted class, so an fdr of 3.8-3.5, so if I were to use 64p gears what is the biggest spur, smallest pinion gear I would have to run, without any modifications, would a 100t 64p spur and a 58t pinion physically fit the car with out any modifications, if not then what are my options, thanks in advance for the advice

I know 36t was too big for this car and someone online advised me of using 43t pinion with 72t spur. (Although it's incorrect for the v.II.. it was for the TA05 with internal gearing being 2.25)

Does anyone know if Xray or team associated on-road springs will fit the TRF shocks?
I know the xray springs have the same diameter of 1.5. I don't know if they're the same length or anything.
Just asking because I know my lhs has xray springs and not sure but most likely have AE springs and I would prefer to support them than making any online orders
