steve if i got a brand new gtb 4.5r brushless system, (might be old stock)

the gtb does not have li-po cuttoff, and the motor has the ribbed can,
does this mean it might have a sintered rotor or not?

I dont really want to open the motor to check, is there a easyier way?

Losi,

There's a chance th emotor might have a bonded rotor in it... you should be able to spin the shaft on the motor and feel for yourself.... a bonded rotor shouldn't have the magnetic cog that the sintered rotor has.

If you can't tell by feeling it then the only way to tell is to open it up...

If you send me the serial # I might be able to look it up and see if they have some notes regarding when they started including the sintered rotors in the 4.5s

Back on the 13mm rotor, I tried going up 2 teeth on the pinion, still not nearly as quick as the standard sintered rotor. I'm running oval with a FD of 4.54 in a TC5 (100/44 64p)8.5 4 cell 4200's. Will running oval make a difference in the gearing for the 13mm or is it not a good choice for that application?

hey Noob-smoke,

I haven't played with it too much with the 008 so far but generally speaking when you lower the diff at one end of the car you reduce the traction at that end of the car.

For instance, if you lower the rear diff, you should get less rear grip... usually it's overall grip...so less forward and less side bite.

With the front it gets a little more tricky... but with the diff high I usually feel like the car is smooth turning in but will have more mid/exit steering.

With the front diff low it will get into the corner harder but will have more of a tendancy to push in the middle/exit of the corner.

I primarily run oval. There has not been any time where the 13.0mm rotor has been faster, other than in a 4.5 or faster motor. That is the only time. Stick with the standard sintered rotor in oval.
